Hi Rebecca, I just want to say I am not here to sway your decision in any way from one cabinet line to another, I will just pass on what I know about the two, and let you decide what is best for you. As snookums pointed out "Customer's house and money. The decisions are theirs only". Short answer is yes, you can finish the ends and back to match your cabinetry. First off, if you decide to pursue the idea of Diamond, make sure your KD is quoting you Diamond Distinctions, in APC (all plywood construction) and not Diamond Vibes, as someone else mentioned. The APC replaces standard cabinet construction with unfinished 1/2â³ plywood ends, top, bottom, and 3/8â³ back. Upgrades shelves to 3/4â³ finished plywood. 5% Up-charge(I consider this a no brainier, and my customers almost always want the APC) This will give you the same box construction as the higher end cabinet line. Finished ends are accomplished several ways. 1- Finished Ends Creates a matching finished 1/2â³ plywood exterior end. 2-Furniture Finished Plywood Ends Replaces standard cabinet ends with 3/4â³ finished end panels to achieve a Furniture End appearance. 3-Authentic Ends Modifies cabinet end panel with applied decorative door. I use this one the most. Sounds like what you were looking for. 4- Face Frame and Door on End Creates a working door on the end of the specified cabinet. Finishing the backs of islands is one place the two cabinet lines are going to differ, the higher end offers face frame, and matching door panels by the SF built to any configuration and size. The Diamonds don't, but can be done by applying a matching cabinet skin and moldings, then apply what we refer to as "loose doors" . This is one of those many details that needs to be well planned, so as to order the correct size "loose doors"as well as the right skin and moldings. Hope this helps Wayne

I have spoken to them. They said they can match any of the major brands. It's not actually paint, it's lacquer. So they aren't actually buying paint from the manufacturer I tell them, they are mixing their lacquer to closely match that colour. I'm a little worried that if they send me a sample, it'll add another 8 weeks to the delivery, which would probably cause a divorce at my house because DH is pissed off enough that I haven't been able to order them yet. (Original supplier stopped selling my cabinets of choice, so I had to start over and now Omega has the best price, but it takes them and my supplier FOREVER to answer questions.) And I agree, millworkman, the big box experiences are probably worse case scenario. But I can't go to a paint store in this situation. So is the factory closer to the paint store, or to the big box? So I am asking, has anyone had terrible experiences having their cabinets "colour matched" by a factory? Or am I worried about nothing?

Hi, sxp245! Your project sounds amazing. So, though I still am conflicted about it, we ended up changing our kitchen a little--mainly due to the problem of how to coordinate our wood floor with the smokey grey cabinets. We went with a dark blue painted island, white quartz counters everywhere, and the Pearl Omega cabinets. If I could go back, I probably would have done the calacatta quartz at least on the island. I didn't find great info on the Vadara product we were considering, and it seems there weren't as many cool marble-like quartz options then. I do think the smokey gray/calacutta/Pearl cabinets is a winning combination. My friend who is a designer and has a great eye for color pulled those 3 together and felt like they worked really well. I think that combination would be beautiful--and both cool and classic! :) On another note, the Omega cabinets do seem to be good quality, and the finish has held up well, despite the workout they get from my kids! I’ve been hoping for SW Silverpointe and SW Passive to have a color baby and I think BM Oystershell just might be that offspring! Maybe. :) Oystershell lands deeper into the Green-Yellow (GY) Hue Family. It's closer to Greeen (G) and it's lighter and brighter - look at Value and LRV to compare lightness and brightness. Passive has the least amount of Chroma out of the 3. Which could explain the blueness. Chroma quantifies colorfulness/grayness, clean/dirty, vivid/dull
