Does anybody have Diamond Kitchen Cabinets?
Comments (6)bruins47, I had Diamond cabinets installed last year, shaker-style in Cherry with slab drawers. All plywood construction, doors and drawers are solid cherry. I have a total of 18 boxes, including a tall pantry with slide-out shelves, and side panels around my refrigerator. I did not purchase from Lowe's, but from another local supplier. I hired my own installer. All of the cabinets arrived in good order with no damage. I was actually really pleased with them when I opened the boxes! No issues with the finish or construction. There was an issue with the light rail in that one of the exposed surfaces was not finished, but Diamond replaced those pieces immediately and quickly. One drawer did not glide like it should, and a new glide was sent right away. I think this is where a smaller, independent dealer has an advantage over Home Depot and Lowes ... my request for replacement parts was not lost in the shuffle and my supplier got them to me fast. Those were my only issues ... minor and resolved quickly. I had ordered a bathroom cabinet (not Diamond) from Lowe's a few years back and the experience wasn't a pleasant one, so shopped elsewhere. Good luck with your purchase!...See Morecabico or omega dynasty cabinets
Comments (5)I'm searching for a mid priced cabinet line.Thought Diamond was it, but didn't like the depth of base cabinet draws, nor did I like their top corner cabinet options. Looking through these forums I found this thread. Not sure if Dynasty "melamine" is better or worse than a standard interior wood veneer. Kraftmaid has the depth of draw, corner cabinets, door style I like, but has not been spoken of very fondly by some who have had them from Lowe's/Home Depot. Help! What to buy, what to buy. When looking on the Omega site they have this regarding the cabinet construction: Quality Inside Out Dynasty/Omega's solid wood case construction makes your cabinetry ready for a lifetime of use. But you don't have to wait a lifetime to appreciate it. Dynasty/Omega cabinets are delivered square, stable and easy to install because we start with solid, kiln-dried select hardwood frames. Unlike many cabinet manufacturers, we produce every door (even our curved doors) on site allowing us to apply the same rigorous quality standards to the doors as we give to the rest of the product....See MoreOmega Dynasty vs Dynasty II Doors...and...wood vs wood veneer
Comments (9)Thanks everyone! I think the $7,000 difference also covered a few other changes we made...but some added some subtracted. However, the majority of it comes from the door change. I think about $1,000 came from postponing the 3 decorative doors on the side of the peninsula facing the DR + furniture base. By eliminating one of the single wall ovens (was going to be undercounter) and moving a MW drawer there, we actually added to the cost (~300) of that cabinet since it will now have at least one drawer + the MW. We also eliminated the breadbox (~400 savings there). Lastly, we postponed the Message Center on the end of the Pantry (~1,300). Over the next few years we plan to add the "postponed" items. One of the additional things we did to whittle away at the cost was to eliminate the backsplash. I've noticed that quite a few people put off the backsplash until later and, from what I've read here, it should be relatively easy to add later. I'm trusting all of you on that! Maybe I'll even try my hand at DIYing it (scares me though!) With the door & other cabinet changes made, postponing the backsplash, downgrading our appliances, and postponing other things (Vinnata faucet, new toilet, 2nd GD), we've managed to bring the cost down to something we think we can swing w/o going into debt...that's our goal, financially! Who knows...in a few years if I still want the Artesia door I can always buy them and replace the current doors! (After we "add back' the postponed items!) Again, thanks everyone for helping me feel better about this whole ordeal!...See MoreKitchen Cabinets: Dynasty or Bellmont 1600 or...?
Comments (10)The average kitchen project in the US costs around 56K, with about 20K worth of that going towards cabinets. That's average numbers. Some kitchens will be at a level above that and some below. Some kitchens are bigger. Some are smaller. Just talking averages though, that's 20K worth of cabinets. With a 30K budget, the usual breakdown would be around 13K for cabinets, about 4K for counters, around 4K for flooring, 6K for appliances, 1K for plumbing, 1K for electrical, and 1K for incidentals. Realize that the labor for all of that is included in the number as well rather than a separate labor fee. Breaking that out, means that your actual cabinet budget would be around 11K with around 2K for the install. Counters are always installed price. Flooring install will depend on type. Plumbing and electrical, as long as you don't need anything fancy, should be figured 50/50. Like all home projects, the more you can DIY, the more that you can pull from the labor column and put in the materials column....See Morejellytoast
