Making Kitchen Chair Cushions Waterproof
Comments (3)There is a waterproof spray for tents but it doesn't make it like laminating it just makes it waterproof. I don't think it would be good for chair pads, because it would break down if you put any kind of soap on them so you couldn't wash them. I don't think they make anything like you asked about unless it's a sewable plastic and fabric stores sell it for mattress pads. Then there's PUL which has a plastic like inner lining and a cloth outer. They use it for diapers. Why would you want to coat them anyway--they're washable and dryable and fluff up nicely if you add a tennis ball to the dryer. If you have young kids the. make a slip cover for them or take them off of the kids chairs. I take them off my chairs when my grandsons are eating. With all the wiggling around they do I was afraid of them falling off the chairs....See MoreSource for danish modern wool tweed/boucle upholstery fabric?
Comments (15)O.K., so after I said I'd want to stay within the original nubby tweed, of *course* I found a fabric at G'will I couldn't resist...it's a heathered black ground with rather well-delineatd raised brown velour-ish silhouettes of African savannah trees and animals! Just makes me smile and I knew immediately I'd be using that. I don't know who made it, don't know how to search for it, and it may be very vintage, so it wouldn't be out there anyway. Luckily, there is enough for both chairs, so I'll have a little figurative but non-busy element amongst all the more usual upholstery fabrics. Never say never, hm? :) Thanks, everyone!...See MoreDo you Scotchgard your furniture?
Comments (2)We send fabrics and leather out for protection before we upholster the furniture, and I believe we use Total Guard on fabrics. I think the real name of the product is Ultra-Guard, and it supposedly has UV protection, but that is not fully guaranteed. There is something called Leather-Guard that we use on leather, but that may also not be the correct name. We generally reupholster something when the fabric is beyond being able to be cleaned, but then we like to show new textiles. I've used Scotchgard at home....See MoreINESSE chair copy HELP!!!
