Do any of you have photos of your pole bean structures?
Comments (11)I have tried two types. Type #1 was 1.5" pvc pipe supporting "rabbit" fencing (vinyl coated 3' grid fencing --I used two strips for a 6' high fence). This worked real well through the season, but in a fall storm the plastic bent. I will abandon this method. Type #2 was 2- 2x4x8' put in 30" deep fence post holes, with a third 4' long 2x4 used as a top piece. I drilled 1/2" holes every 6" inches in the boards. I then used apple and pear branches ("water sprouts") and grape vine pieces left over from pruning to make a trellis inside the 2x4's weaving them between the holes in a random pattern, occasionally tying as needed with wire. It is funky, sturdy, looks good, and the beans liked it. I will build more of these to replace the plastic pipe as soon as I prune this spring. Sorry no pics....See Moreroselee, do you have any more photos of your brick planter?
Comments (4)Hi Marti! Here's the views of the brick planter you asked for. This is the side facing the house with the overhanging Youpon holly that you viewed before. There was grass right up to the house before we built the planter ... This is the other end of the same walkway ... And this is the frontside ... Incidentally, I had miniature roses planted around the perimeter in the beginning, but after several years they began to decline, plus the deer discovered them. When I tried to dig around them I could hardly get a shovel in the soil. The roots of our front yard Cedar elm tree had discovered the rich moist soil and invaded the bed. However, the plumbagos planted in the middle of the bed were florishing so since I valued the tree I let the plumbagos have it and they do great -- tree roots and all. I just reread your message and you wanted to see it at a distance. I went back out and took this picture .... Hope these help you for planning purposes and decisions....See Moreitltrot, do you have any more pictures of your cabinets/counter?
Comments (19)Couldn't find my receipt for the mosaic tile over the weekend so I called the tile store. They are Vetro Metalli Mosaic and the color I got is Platino. They were definitely a splurge which is the reason they were only randomly placed around the rest of the kitchen. They don't look fabulous on the website as samples but I think they are displayed as the main picture on this link. The granite tiles I purchased from the local tile store but the were available at Lowe's. My local store had a better price because they forgot to do a price increase until after they quoted me. I know tiles are readily available at most home improvement stores or tile stores. I've even found a store 100 miles away that carries edge pieces for a few granite colors so you don't have to use the chair rail pieces like we did and it looks more like a slab. The chair rail, pencil liners and rectangle back splash tiles are all stock items from Lowe's. Thanks again for the compliments. Hubby and I love it and it's nice to know other people like elements too. Here is a link that might be useful: Vetro Metalli...See MoreDo any of you have this 'problem' with your white noise machine, lol?
Comments (13)lily, I'm hooked on my noise machine as well, and even wake up suddenly if a power outage shuts it off! kathsgrdn, thankfully I don't hear the sounds of a distinct voice, lol. It's more that the smooth sound the white noise used to make, is now a bit more inconsistent and pitchy, which makes it sound like muffled singsong phrases. I'm pretty sure it's just the ageing motor that's causing the inconsistent sound, so I guess it's time for a new one!...See MoreUser
