Can I use the same paint color in 2 rooms?
Comments (24)Oops. I'm only just seeing this. The paint color is Benjamin Moore's Smoke. I use Aura paint, which is full spectrum. I think colors look great with full spectrum paint. :) The dining room is more of a nook in an open condo. The left side is where the front door and coat closet are. The right side is where you enter the kitchen (there is a bar there, too). Most of my neighbors have a tiny table and two chairs in the space, but one uses it for a desk...it's really a pass through. The chairs were custom made. They were an insane splurge about three years ago, before those chairs were everywhere. My options were a Ballard Designs chair that I didn't feel comfortable buying sight unseen, and similar chairs by Bernhardt, Z Gallerie, and Baker. I had a picture of the fabric I wanted in my head (cream, geometric stitching with a slight sheen), so I wound up having the chairs made. It wasn't any more expensive than the Bernhardt chairs would have been. You can see more of my place on my blog. Just click my username. There's a show stopper in the living room. I'll let you find it. :)...See MorePaint color for Foyer/Hall/Stairs
Comments (7)I'm brand new and definitely an amateur, but I would probably stay with a more neutral color, as you suggested. My entrance is somewhat similar in style and floor coloring. We used a Lowes color (back before we knew that there was a SW nearby us) It's called Cream in my Coffee and looks like it says. So I would say stay with a lighter more neutral color. But you don't *have* to I don't think. Other people here could give you much better guidance than mine though, I'm sure! You could try Sherwin Williams coloring guide on their website to see what you like or to get an approximate idea anyway. Good luck!...See MoreHall and family room colors
Comments (6)What color is your family room furniture? Or your drapes? If you're starting from scratch for your family room, the easy way is to pick an inspiration piece. That could be a plate, or some fabric, or a painting that you love the colors. Then take all your colors from that. If you go to our gallery and look through the Living Rooms thread, it contains family rooms too. You will get a lot of inspiration there. You can pick out your favorites and copy the color schemes. There is also an entry and hallway thread that shows some halls. You may also find ideas in the Home Offices thread. Once you have an idea of the color you want on the walls, see the gallery color threads to get your ideas narrowed down. You can do a search in the gallery on a color name....See MorePlease help with paint color selection for foyer and hall
Comments (2)Leave the foyer and stair wall and upstairs hall what it is now. As far as the dark area of the hallway, paint that one the red recommended by B.M. Sienna Red. A light, soft color will respond just as it is now, so you need a stronger, warmer color. I had an antique half Cape house and the hallway was just like yours. I painted it red (I think it was Pottery (blue undertone), but the adjoining wall was Palladian blue. The red looked great 24 hrs....See Morecardesign
