    You all are funny today.

Hey, that might be a good idea. Put boxes on the furniture for the cats to lay in instead of them getting hair all over the cushions.

    Couldn't resist another one

"Lay" ... is what hens do ...

"lie" ... is what cats do ...

(hhuhumhumahumanhumanshhuhumhumahumanhumanshhhuhumhumahumanhumanhave been known to do it sometimes, as well).

Caption on a front page photo on the Chicago Tribune this morning describes a patient *laying* on a gurney in the hallway of an overcrowded ER. (I didn't see any feathers or eggs, OJ.)

Sigh, the newspapers used to be the bastions of English. No more. Anyone with a computer is a reporter and the English language has died a slow death.

ETA; No one wil ever know the difference between there, their, and they're.

I confess that as much as I try, I cannot EVER keep lay and lie straight. It iis in the realm of who and whom for me, so I do my best to avoid them altogether.

"Who", as subject, is the one doing the action "whom", as the object, is the one being acted upon.

But many say, "Me and tommy went to town ...", and I've heard "myself" used in strange places: a sentence containing "myself" can have only one subject - "I", as the only one that can do anything to "myself" is the one doing the talking.

ole joyful ... and remember to hit "space" after that " joyful" or it'll disappear,

I've got the me and I thing down, as well as the use of myself. It's just who and whom and my lack of wanting to diagram a sentence as I'm writing it that stymies me. Same with lie and lay. Otherwise, I'm pretty good with grammar, though I struggle with syntax ALL the time!

I want to scream every time I hear the oft misused "myself".

I feel that way, myself, colleen!

For me, it's the misuse of "bring" and "take." "Bring" is used when it's from somewhere else to where you are. And "take" is used when it's from where you are to somewhere else. I would never say, "Take me that sweater."

And don't forget your and you're. Using gift as a verb makes me want to scream!!!

So many I hear on Judge Judy: I seen him do it... I borrowed him some money... (I don't know how people confuse lend and borrow) ... me and her went ... he tooken it... and please tell me what's wrong with the final "s" in possessives? I went to my Grandma house, I drove to my baby mama house...

And it grates every time people mix up less and fewer.

I remember lay and lie because lay requires an object.

Now I lay me down to sleep

    I lie down to sleep.

The US Department of Education needs to bring back grammar, etc., in all schools ASAP.
