Fridge and Range next to each other & handles don't match..
Comments (13)Sorry for not posting back until now; all our things are finally moved into our new home. Now to clean the old one so we can get renters! Thank you all for your opinions and advice! I did go ahead and order the Kenmore range. I considered a GE range, but in the end, I would have had to pay almost 2xs as much for a similarly featured range. I did research through consumer reports, and for 2013, GE and Frigidaire tied for first, for brand reliability in the gas range category. Kenmore was just one point behind. I also have a Kenmore range in my old home (don't know if it was made by Frigidaire at that time), and it is at least 12 years old. It doesn't look pretty, but everything is still functioning well. Anyway, for the price I couldn't justify the GE purchase. There are both good and bad reviews for both brands. It seems you either luck out with a good appliance, or a problematic one, in either case! Thanks again!...See MoreStrange to put wood look flooring next to saltillo-style tile?
Comments (10)Oh how I love gardenweb! When I posted this question I really didn't figure I would get any responses from others who had done the same thing since it is such a specific situation but then to see a post from someone with the same exact tile! How exciting!! So sorry to have taken so long to reply but we have had family in town and the kids are out of school so life has been hectic to say the least. GWlolo - WOW! Your floors look beautiful!!! Really wishing that I had gone with a thin grout line between my Super Saltillos like you did. Ours are much thicker (3/4 inch I think) and they get so dirty. Love the deco tiles too. We haven't used them in any of the other rooms but do you think it would look strange to use them through the kitchen only? Are your Super Saltillos Saguaro or Desierto? Also glad to see that your wood floors are very similar to the wood look tile that we chose :) miss_kenda - thank you for your input! Once we knock down the wall separating the dining room and kitchen the house will be much more open so we decided to continue the saltillo through the kitchen and start the wood look tile in the hallway at the other end of the galley :) alexx- Holy cow your kitchen is so nice! Had assumed that I would jump on the white subway tile bandwagon but your kitchen has me seriously considering going with a blue backsplash! Glad to see that a grout transition will work despite the grout between our saltillos being larger than they will be between the wood-look tile. Thank you again to everyone for the helpful feedback!!...See MoreTwo different wood floors near each other?
Comments (9)Hello Juan Ramirez , Without seeing photos I may be overly optimistic - why can't you cut a square or rectangle out of the carpet, pull up the padding, add a schluter strip/transtion strip/tile stop from Home Depot and throw a couple of tiles down over some quick-krete - also from Home Depot? Maybe its a hundred bucks worth of stuff & you keep the carpet? If you want to do the whole floor in the bedroom / vanity - laminate would be less expensive than engineered wood. Of course - they call everything, 'engineered wood flooring,' nowadays.... A real engineered wood floor would be fine - that means when you look at the flooring sample from the side you will clearly see (2) woods glued together - they expand/contract @ different rates making them less likely to get water damage and other science stuff. It'll also be THICK. Hope that helps a little, -frank...See MoreTwo different floors next to each other (open floor plan kitchen)
Comments (16)Hey, everyone! Thanks for your advice! We'll be changing the cabinets to white shakers. They definitely look like it would be a good match if we go with a lighter cabinet. I'm not sure about the floor material, but it was stained before. I've been running some looks, and I can't quite find a tile that I think looks too great here. We're considering trying to extend the floor, but we'll need to take a piece over to get it matched at a flooring store....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
