I have the same tile in my kitchen and hallway and I have wood floor in the bedrooms and living room. I will try to take a pic tomorrow and post. I think it looks fabulous and people who have seen it have also complimented us on that. My tile and the wood floor have no transition except a thin grout line.

GWlolo - Would love to see pics of that thin grout line transition! Are your wood floors real wood or wood-look tile? I guess I was wondering specifically if a wood-look tile would look more tile like and less wood like if it were next to a regular, square tile.

My fault, GWlolo, I just realized that in the title of this post I mentioned using wood look flooring. I should have specified that it would be wood-look tile!

Would still love to see pics of your wood and saltillo to get an idea for coloring!! Thanks, again!

It looks excellent.

The grout transition works well because it's the same width as the between-tile grout lines.

If the tile is only in the dining room I would consider replacing it to match kitchen. I would be afraid you are going to have too many flooring types. I depends on how open your house is though.

I think it would be fine. Historically, Saltillo would have been used alongside wood; they seem natural together.
Having them both be tile seems to me a even better fit.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread. I had trouble with photobucket. Hopefully this works. We have the same brand (Marazzi Super Saltillo in the color). We also used the deco tiles in the same series. The hardwood is a hickory engineereed wood in a hand scraped wide finish. We still have the floor protector over wood so I do not have a good photo but ou can see the seams and the contrast.

Oh how I love gardenweb! When I posted this question I really didn't figure I would get any responses from others who had done the same thing since it is such a specific situation but then to see a post from someone with the same exact tile! How exciting!!

So sorry to have taken so long to reply but we have had family in town and the kids are out of school so life has been hectic to say the least.

GWlolo - WOW! Your floors look beautiful!!! Really wishing that I had gone with a thin grout line between my Super Saltillos like you did. Ours are much thicker (3/4 inch I think) and they get so dirty. Love the deco tiles too. We haven't used them in any of the other rooms but do you think it would look strange to use them through the kitchen only? Are your Super Saltillos Saguaro or Desierto? Also glad to see that your wood floors are very similar to the wood look tile that we chose :)

miss_kenda - thank you for your input! Once we knock down the wall separating the dining room and kitchen the house will be much more open so we decided to continue the saltillo through the kitchen and start the wood look tile in the hallway at the other end of the galley :)

alexx- Holy cow your kitchen is so nice! Had assumed that I would jump on the white subway tile bandwagon but your kitchen has me seriously considering going with a blue backsplash! Glad to see that a grout transition will work despite the grout between our saltillos being larger than they will be between the wood-look tile.

Ours is Desierto which is the darker color. I was going to do the saguaro but the sample I got looked too pinkish orange in our light. I needed the punch of the darker color.
