What color floor tile with white cabinets and soapstone counter
Comments (12)We have an old home (1910) with oak flooring and are doing a white kitchen with soapstone, too. As others have said, you can put in new flooring and having everything refinished/finished to match. That was what we planned to do, and in fact, we bought the oak to do it. Later we had second thoughts about it, but I can't really explain why. I like the look of wood in other people's similar kitchens, but we decided to go with slate. :o) We chose a honed finish rather than the more typical natural cleft type. Ours is called Montauk Black, and despite its name, it's a beautiful charcoal grey. I love it. It doesn't compete with the soapstone since it's pretty uniform in color (although I should mention that our soapstone is pretty quiet anyway). Our tile will be going in as early as next week, so I'll try to post some pictures soon. If you search google images, you'll see lots of examples. There are also lots of porcelain and ceramic tiles that look Iike slate if you don't want to use natural stone....See MoreBest tile color w/white cabinets and black counter top?
Comments (6)vwhippiechick - Thanks. I remember it being a paint that I can't get here, but it reminds me of BM Woodstock Tan which I used in an entryway. It's brown, but I see green at times so it sounds similar to yours. blue67 - Have you looked at the Finished Kitchen Blog for ideas? You can do a search for kitchens with white cabinets. Comments (12)Jkemner - It sounds like a lovely combination, but I have to agree with the others regarding the maintenance of a light tile floor. I just had mine installed a few months ago and thought it would be great because my room is so dark and I clean the floors so frequently anyway. I was so wrong! The above commenters are correct that it is a constant battle to keep the floors clean looking. My worst peeve is that a single drop of water on the floor will get smeared by a shoe or dirty foot and it shows. The Kitchen Designer Blog has some recent entries about light floors. She also has some very nice pictures. Here is a link that might be useful: The Kitchen Designer Blog...See MoreBlack/White floor tile but gray counter. Wall color??
Comments (12)Jan Moyer that clock thing is the control to the sauna so has to stay. New towel holders too and decorations. I’m glad you all said the gray will go with the room bc it’s a long story how we ended up with the gray (briefly: had to buy entire slab for master and sauna bathroom was showing wear so used rest of slab). The upstairs colors are agreeable gray so not opposed to using the leftover paint but I did think of yellow or an aqua - something spa like. Here is a professional photo from the listing when we bought the lake house and a few others to show why we replaced the top....See Moreboone_2009
