Big Survivor finale tonight!
Comments (21)I'm happy with the outcome also. Although, Keith was my first choice all the way. I say stay out of the audience. Talk to the finalists and the jury. I also think Missy should have been pulled, absolutely, totally unfair for someone to stay who can't even compete. That was total BS. Raven, I said the same thing to DH, Alec looks like he just smoked a fattie and is higher than a kite. But, he looked like that the entire time, at all the tribals, at ponderosa and at the finale. Dude needs to concentrate hard on closing his mouth. Absolutely LOVED Reed's speech. He was spot on. I choked when Missy sat there and said I had all my alliance people in line and told them all what to do and how to vote.....puh-lease! haha Can't wait til Feb! Thank goodness no returning players....See MoreSurvivor finale tonight
Comments (20)As to Carolyn, we don't know if she has something going on in real life that made her unhappy. She looked really stressed before they read the votes in a way she didn't during the season. And I'm sure she thought she had a good chance of winning--we all did--and she's not the type who's used to failing. I'm willing to cut her some slack. Re Mike and the check, I thought he gave it to his mom like a good boy who knew it was important and thought he might lose it. "Here, Mom, will you put this in your purse for me?" It's nearly impossible to win without help, so kudos to Mike for pulling it off, and yes, he deserved it. OTOH, one of my all time favorite players is Sandra, who played calm and sneaky. :) Did you all notice an extra twinkle and dimple from Jeff when he took down the blowhards? Show of hands, "Mike would have won either way." "Here's the raw footage." I think both Rodney and Dan are the same kind of self deluding egotist who don't even hear what they're saying themselves, let alone what anyone around them says. I really do think Dan thought he was playing the dozens with that yo' mama reference, but kind of unaware that the conversation about yo' mama jokes took place hours (days?) earlier. Or maybe even after, if they called him on it. It was all just going on in his head with no regard for what was going on around him. I looked it up: Shirin is a Yahoo executive. I'm sure she's well compensated, but the likelihood is that she and every other employee in the tech firm she was working for (I don't know if it was Yahoo at the time), made a million, rather than she, on her own, did, unless she designed and sold an app or something. I know she was on another reality show, but I doubt she would have accumulated a million in pay from that. What I find interesting is that she said Tyler was one of the worst of the misogynists. I'd forgotten the little they showed of that....See MoreSurvivor finale tonight! Who do you like?
Comments (42)"I loved the way the final votes were read but trying to figure out how and when that was planned." "A tie could happen anytime, it would only take 1 person to vote for the 3rd person to make a tie." Last season, in one of the Q & A sessions that Dalton Ross does with Jeff Probst, the subject of a tie came up and Jeff said that if there were a tie at the final tribal, then the person not involved in the tie would cast the final, deciding, vote. If you think about it, this is what they do in "regular" tribal councils when there is a tie vote to oust someone. The folks who are tied do not get to vote again, and everyone else votes again with votes only being cast for one or the other of the folks who are tied. Ok, now for "how and when it was planned." When everyone is done voting at a tribal council, Jeff always says, "I'll go tally the votes." Then he comes back and dramatically pulls them from the urn and reads them. If Jeff just grabbed the urn and brought it back to his post and started randomly pulling them out and reading them, it would not be nearly as dramatic as it has been. That's because when he goes off to "tally the votes," he actually looks at each one, and then they are arranged in the urn in a manner that will provide the most drama as they are being read. In last night's case, when Jeff previewed the votes and saw that there was a tie, he knew he HAD to read them out loud to the group right then and there, because he knew that Laurel would have to cast the deciding vote. No, he couldn't have waited and had Laurel cast the vote at the beginning of the reunion show, because it would have been a tainted vote. Think about it -- when they are on location, they have no idea what is going on. They only know what they see and hear. They don't know what another player is saying to the camera in the "confessional" interviews; they don't know what other players and saying to each other behind someone's back, etc. By the time the live shows rolls around, they've been home for several months, and they've watched every episode on tv, just like we have. That final vote needed to be cast in a manner that represented what Laurel felt at the time, uninfluenced by outside factors....See MoreSurvivor Finale and reunion tonight
Comments (27)I also hope if they ever repeat Edge that they give them some challenges against one another and whittle it down to a smaller number before letting them vie to get back on the tribe. And show us more of them, it was like blank time, we hardly ever saw the thrown-outs and it made the winner seem less deserving. Although he was much more deserving than the two he sat at final tribal with. The girls had the perfect opportunity to vote Gavin out a few weeks ago, I couldn't figure out why they didn't take it. So sorry Devens didn't make it to the final, I do hope we see him again and I agree, it should be a season with all returnees, they really don't have a fair chance when it's just a couple....See More- 3 years ago
