Jordan and I got to get dirty this morning. "OH COOL" she said when I told her we were going to plant some of the awesome seeds we received. I have been saving up containers to wintersow and we have begun. Jordan loved putting soil into the containers, watering and sprinkling in the seeds...I hope not all the seeds are in once place LOL...oh well she did the best she could. Here is what we planted today: kohlrabi, cauliflower, dill, oriental leaf mix, romaine lettuce, red rock cabbage, freckles lettuce, and as an experiment...Italian market wonder tomatoes and minnesota midget melons. We already did asparagus, leeks, broccoli, garlic chives and alpine strawberries. We will be eating good next year. Again thanks to those who sent us some of the seeds above along with some that will be babied and loved and EATEN next year. I am also starting to save up containers for some of the wonderful flowers sent to us. I just needed to get the food stuff going since this is how I help feed all of us in the summer (6 adults and of course Jordan). It really helps with the finances some and knowing that there is food simply sitting outside the door feels so good. I already have a great corner of our yard picked out the plant the flowers...will have to post some pictures as we get it together. Kym, Jordan has been an exceptionlly good girl this year and is anxiously awaiting Santa. Will let you know when he arrives. XOXOXOXO to all, Kim and Jordan

I'm so glad to hear that the seeds I sent out are making it to their new homes and two more cards with fantastic goodies have arrived to my home. Alana (poisondartfrog), thank you so much for the Argemone! I've really been wanting to try some of these but have been having a heck of a time finding seed. And the Pentapetes phoenicia, oh my goodness - this is the first I've heard of this species but as soon as I received the seeds I started reading everything I could find on it and this is most certainly my kind of plant. How absolutely gorgeous and I'm obsessed with the Monticello gardens and Jefferson's work as a gardener so it's so perfect. And last, but most certainly not least, the Ipomoea nil 'Sunrise Serenade' - this looks like an absolutely stunning variety. I'm doing a fence of Ipomoeas next season and this will look gorgeous there. Maria (elf7), thank you so much for the gorgeous card and the round carrots are absolutely perfect! They grow fantastically in the rocky soil here and I also love to grow them in containers and hanging pots. They're incredibly amusing. And I'm putting in a cutting garden and very much look forward to growing the dahlia zinnias there. ~Amanda

Today I received another card! According to the note written on the envelope, it was delayed due to the zip code being incorrect, but at least it made it! Thank you Kathy (katkni) for the very pretty cardinal card and seeds. I received lemon basil (I've been looking forward to trying this!), calendula, black cumin (sounds interesting), and cosmos. Thank you so much! P.S. Although a bit late, I finished my rate and reviews for everyone I received from today. Thank you all! Mandy This post was edited by l1oness on Thu, Jan 2, 14 at 19:41

Update here with some cards and goodies I've received over the past few days. Hope I don't miss anyone. I received a thoughtful card from Wenders67. Thanks Wenders! From quiltingfox/Sandra I got a nice card, and Joe pye Gateway, and Trifolium Incarnatum, 2 things I recently discovered I needed. Thanks Sandra! Lastly, I received a wonderful card and envy stuffed with goodies from GraanieB/Bea and Mary. They sent me Romaine lettuce, fennel (I hear the butterflies like that too), eggplant (had been meaning to try that sometime so 2009 must be the year for that), Cress, Zucchini, White hyacinth bean vine, zinnia mix, Lantana 'Carlos', and Coral Vine. What wonderful surprises. Thanks Bea and Mary! Again, thank you all for the wonderful cards, seeds, and spirit of giving that has been shown here in this great swap. I have enjoyed it all so much, and hope I didn't forget to acknowledge anyone here. Now, if I was just caught up on getting some free seeds or seeds for postage together to be mailed. Sue...off to catch up a few emails, reviews, and pack some seeds

@Gary Fitzgerald Gary, I have no idea what I could possibly say to brace them for the sort of packages you send. Also, I'm sorry I haven't gotten my tomato collection to you yet. I've tried to go through my seed box several times now, but it's too hard. Everything else has been so easy to part with, this box just keeps staring at me... I need to remind myself they're staring because they want to grow, which means they need to go to you. Okay, I'll do it tomorrow and send them Monday, I swear...

I emailed Cghpnd a few weeks ago asking for her wishlist but did not get a response, I hope she is okay, I did send a card with some seeds. I hope others did the same, she has participated in the swap before and I hope nothing is wrong other than life getting in the way of a seed swap. Gary, your envelopes are legendary it seems lol... for anyone new , you are in for a treat. Its only January and I am already looking out the window down at my sad garden spot and lonely greenhouse. I am not a winter person having lived in the South most of my life until I met someone here in Maryland and decided he was worth putting up with long cold winters for ;-) Seed swaps and seed catalogs are keeping me going.

I, too, received a package from Gary, which must have included over 50 varieties of seeds--and dark chocolate! Yesterday evening I opened my package from Gary. I was so overwhelmed! In it was a lovely Christmas prayer card, a large bar of dark chocolate which my husband gladly stashed away, and so many packs of seeds that I was in Seed Heaven! I marveled over all the tomato varieties and am still researching them. Peppers, melons, flowers, and yes, my beloved zinnias! I will spend all winter pouring over them and planning out my gardens. I must be a 'seed miser!' You would think that I had a pile of gold coins - lol! Thank you so much Gary for lifting my spirits and providing all of us with so many great seed varieties.

I'm baccccccccccccccccccck! Sorry I have taken so long in writing my thank you. Been non-stop crazy here (Vet appointments, Dr appointments, computer died, etc.). Despite all the not so fun things that been going on, your Secret Santa cards helped put a smile on my face. It may seem like a little thing, but to me it's a big thing and I can't thank you enough for thinking of me.

Kim (SoLovelyLily), the adorable card with owl & cardinal and the Zinnias seeds.

Melinda Hagen, the "oh come all ye faithful" card (that song is now stuck in my head LOL) with Zinnia seeds inside.

Iris (ranegrow), the pretty glitter card with Zinnia seeds inside.

Linda (roper2008), the super cute card with Penguins decorating the Reindeer and Zinnia seeds.

Heidi (Xiangirl), the lovely red barn Christmas card with a few surprises inside...Cosmos, 2 different Gaillardias, and 2 different marigolds (I love surprises).

Gary, the Christmas prayer card with Zinnias galore inside. How did you know I like DARK chocolate and to make it even better Cacao? The only kind of chocolate I like. Yummmmmm

Thank you again. I can not wait for warmer weather to come so I can plant these seeds with a big fat smile on my face (and eating my dark chocolate).

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and I hope 2023 will be good to you!
