I agree that a buffet would be great storage on that wall - FB Marketplace has great ones if you’re patient. I agree with large art above as well (Anthropologie has oversized paper tapestries that are a total steal) -

A bigger chandelier that hangs at the appropriate height will give a much nicer, more welcoming feel to the room

It’s hard to tell the colors in the current light, is that olive green on the back wall? i feel like there are a million directions you could go here - lots of potential for sure!

Making a buffet wall as mentioned below is great- consider making it into a functional bar area by adding a soda or wine fridge in that space- so when you do electric plan for the outlets.

Yes, a buffet is the way to go but i would not go built in, floating shelf as it isn't a short wall. Your space would carry a freestanding one which will give a focus, breaking up the length of the wall and a centre point for art. A longer 3 to 4 door unit over something too short - it's hard to tell how much length you have, but it would be better to have something which spans the space (with with less space at the either end) than one which breaks up the space evenly (ie 3rds) which will just look like there is something plonked in the middle to fill the wall feeling.

My observation is that ones that work successfully are ones that are the centre and create a focus, rather than crowded with items around or above. Once you have found one to your liking, remove the plant from the corner. A plant on the buffet if you like greenery.

Thanks for all the feedback. We have a full bar area in our kitchen so we likely don’t need another so close and the plant is there just for the winter months.

Question, the wall opposing the dark one is slightly shorter. If we center everything to that wall it will give more space between the dining and island. Would that look weird with this accent wall? I’m concerned about flow in the space if there’s a lot of furniture together.

A buffet is a great idea. It would provide you with more storage and would provide space to serve food from. Artwork above that would be great!

Buffet is for the food you’re serving even if you don’t need the storage. The eating area needs “more” and a buffet can be a great design statement. As was mentioned, don’t rush this decision. Keep your eyes out for something being sold locally that makes you fall in love.

Artwork as well. Wait for inspiration. The room looks great. It just needs the finishing touches to make it sing.
