Correct me if I'm wrong, but the broiler is on a thermostat, (just like the oven, only no temperature adjustment). So when the thermostat get hot, it cycles the broiler off and then a few minutes later it comes back on. This is to keep the broiler from getting the oven hotter and hotter and hotter. In any case, by leaving the oven door open a crack, it allows the heat from the oven to escape, and thus, the broiler stays on longer. Really this is something my mother knew, it's certainly not a new phenomenon. Some new ovens have a shut off in the door to prevent you from doing this...also known as "closed door broiling" - the broiler will shut off if you open the door. (I know American has a door shut off) Now, whether there's something wrong with Keitel's broiler, I don't know. If there is, it's either not getting enough gas, or the thermostat is set too low- or it's just fine.

All of what you describe seems to be propane related. The broiler is the most intense on the market. The change in color of the flame on the burners is again propane related. How far away is your propane tank, what size gas line is coming from the propane tank to the range. What else is running on propane.

Do you have proof for this accusation? Trevor Lawson of Eurostoves has this on his website under "test data" comparing the CC and BS now but most thinking people would not consider "data" provided by a competitor to be unbiased especially if you have any knowledge about how scientific testing is done. This becomes more evident as you look at how the other "tests" are set up and presented. There have been complaints on this forum about the door being hot on the BS. There have been some things written saying that BS fixed the hot door but a poster here that had an older one and a new one thought the new one had a hotter door. BlueStar review On the Wolf, it may depend on if you are talking about the AG or the DF. I think there have been a couple of complaints about the AG, but others who had it seemed to think there was something wrong with it. Maybe an actual owner will comment about the AG. I have the Wolf DF and the doors and surrounds stay very cool. We have grandkids(toddlers) running around and while I believe in teaching them to stay away from "hot" and they are watched closely, it is wonderful to have the peace of mind that a cool door is one less hazard. Even after running a couple of hours the door is cool and the only part even warm at all is at the bottom. I couldn't find any place even hot, let alone uncomfortably hot.

Needinfo: I have had a 48" for over 4 yrs now. I have not had any service related issues, but I have had an excellent brief experience with their customer service. Since I have the original style door I emailed them asking for the new door design with the new hinges even tho I have never had a sticking hinge on mine. Within 20 minutes of sending the email they sent an email back saying a brand new door is on its way. They sent it to me in canada via UPS which I know from a lot of experience UPS rapes on their "brokerage fees" to bring things across the border. BS picked up all the costs. I still have not installed the new door but I intend to at some point. My original style door does get hot. Not hot where you can not stand in front of it, that is just ridiculous, but at high temps the door will get hot enough that I would not plant my hand on it and keep it their for more than a fraction of a second (kind of like a hot dark coloured dashbaord on a summer day). Also note that the handle never gets hot, and the only reason I even realized the door gets hot is because I intentionally started poking around after reading the fuss on here. Chairthrower:(love the nick. Lol). I will also confirm that you will fit two half sheets no problem. One half sheet also fits in the small oven on the 48".
