Remember my foyer? Need more opinions

I have a formal foyer with a curved staircase. I've had this bench there for awhile but always knew, (as several of you pointed out last year,) that a round table would be lovely where the bench is. Well, I've found this round table on a local online auction.

"Description: Century mahogany entry table. Round pedestal table with a mahogany Burlwood top and three-leg pedestal. Measures 32 round and 28.5 H. Three faux drawers and one opening drawer that is dovetailed."

I would put it where the bench is and find another place in my home for the bench

It's an obvious yes, right? The price should be a song.

I like the way they look hanging straight as in the last picture. However, if possible, I would shorten the rod a little. There's a little more rod beyond curtain than I like to see. You've done a great job keeping up with our suggestions and getting back with pictures! I think there is a rule of thumb for that but I don't know what it is, probably about 3".

I'm so sorry about your reno fatigue--that can be overwhelming sometimes. I would say that whether or not you are up to the delays, etc that are involved w/ redoing the tile is a decision for you and dh to make. However, if choose to have it redone, I would strongly encourage you to reconsider paying out of pocket for more tile. It sounds like you did your homework about this tile, discussed it beforehand w/ the GC, and have had realistic expectations of what is acceptable. This is installer error, thus the burden to pay for a fix *is not on you*. Given your good working relationship w/ the GC, hopefully all will proceed peacefully. And I suspect your dh would be much more amenable to a re-do if there is no cost to y'all. I know mine would be! p.s. It is definitely easier/less labor to remove before grouting. p.p.s. If you do start over, you might want to indicate w/ an arrow on the back of each sheet of tile which way is "up". Although I still don't think that is your responsibility to take care of that, it might facilitate a faster, more successful install ;-)

Hey Msrose! Love your kitchen - the paint color look wonderful. I googled creamware and came up with plates that look similar to your inspiration plates. When looking for accessories for your ledge - think big! Otherwise they will get lost. Maybe go to antique/junk stores & look for an old chippy door or window to use as a backdrop to some wicker pieces (even a wicker trunk) and big chunky white/cream vases. One of your pics has copper - you can find old tarnished copper in those type of stores (not sure you'd want to use it to cook with, thou!) Even thou I do have a plant above my cabinets....I heard somewhere do not put an artificial plant somewhere that you would not put a live plant. Kinda makes sense to me. Another idea.....I have been seeing these Turkish olive pots around at some stores & have bought a few. They come in large sizes and have a nice rustic quality to them. I like the inspiration pic in the Domino magazine a lot. So, if you kept your windows sitting on the shelf (are we thinking about 15" off the counter or so??), this would allow for a really cool tilebacksplash (or stainless, or whatever you had in mind) and save some $$$ of not having to tile the whole wall. How wed are you to two sinks? this would be a place to save a lot of money, between the sink itself, the faucet, the extra work to template and cutout your countertop, the extra plumbing work, the extra garbage disposal (if you have one). This would probably add up to the price of putting in the new windows. In my kitchen I considered a prep sink but my space is not big enough for it... there was really nowhere to put it, except the island which would have meant not having the MW in the island, or not having the bank of draws that are the most useful in my whole kitchen. BUT, if I had the space, I would have LOVED to have a prep sink. just something else for you to consider. btw, there is something a little awkward about the Domino ktichen's hood... seems too high and the shelf from the range, combined with the shelf on the wall, combined with the hood being up so high is a little off to me, BUT I love the feel of the kitchen.

Iirc, I was fighting for the bench to stay. I love that bench very, very much. I dream of that bench.

But I will concede defeat. The table would look great there.

You could just pop that bench on the same truck my cabinet is coming from....just sayin'!

Love the table. The only thing I'd want to see is how far out 32" round sits in the space.

Just curious - do you have another place to sit in the foyer? Or do you not ever have anyone remove shoes in the foyer?

We all take our shoes off when we enter the house but we don't usually sit down to do it, so not sure Jojo needs a bench or not?

OT: sorry jojoco, just wanted to ask jinx something. Jinx do you subscribe to Victoria? I've had a subscription since soon after the premier issue came out. They went through a bit of a slump there for a few years but have recovered nicely.

Jinx, that foyer is gorgeous! I wish I had the space as I have two chairs that would be perfect, but alas, I do not. 3katz, we enter the house 99% of the time from the garage into the kitchen. There is a window seat in the kitchen to take off shoes (not to mention a table and chairs.) Also, the living room is rright next to the foyer with plenty of seating options for shoe removal.

Eld, the table upstairs is a half circle under a mirror. There is an odd jog space there so it was used as filler. It's a nothing table from Wayfair, I think, and if it distracts I can happily get rid of. If I get the round table, (I keep checking to see if I've been outbid,) then I'll probably go with something simple and circular in the center. Also, there is another small chest (actually a bedside chest that was too big for our room.) in the foyerr. I wanted to put the bench there, but we use that table all the time and the drawers hold hats and mittens and the like. It would be missed.

For perspective, that mirror is opposite the bench.

And Mtn, if you look closely at the lamp, it is a foo dog. The oil painting is of the beach at our cottage in CT.

We'll be doing some switcheroo with furniture if I win the table. In one of our bedrooms, I have my father's mahogany desk. It is very large but separates into three parts. I will put that in our finished basement. The bench will fit very well in the bedroom.

I'm not sure about the table. Is it truly that glossy? It's worth a shot, of course, but I don't know if it's a better shape that what you have. It's not the same curve. But I don't know how to deal with a curved wall so I look forward to being wrong. :)

Pretty sure you could park a Ms PacMan game there and it would still look lovely.

Older people usually need to sit down to take shoes off/put on. The seating in my foyer is used often for that purpose. I guess if you have no seating you can always pull up a chair temporarily.

Didn't win the auction. I bowed out when I kept getting outbid at the closing moments and then the auction kept getting extended. Usually I trust CTBids, but this time, I had the uneasy feeling that I was bidding against myself. We'll see if the seller circles back to tell me the other bid fell through. I'm fine either way as I really do like the bench. Easy come, easy go

Apparently Mr. '29Spanish would say you won!

Maybe you can test it out with your upstairs table plus a big chunk of cardboard. That size drum table is pretty common and I'm sure you can find another if you want to. I will find a spot for your bench. :)
