There is a company in Canada, Timmins that sells quality tools and handles. I just bought a stainless spade with an ash handle and an angle on the blade so kinetically accurate it reminds me of the days when things like this were commonplace. They sell planting spades that are bullet proof but a spade is not a pry bar. I also bought a Dutch hoe, that they call a shuffle, that makes me feel like a craftsman just holding it in my hands. Back to replacing a handle: I have always found that getting the old piece out of the ferrule was the most difficult part of the job. Sticking it in the fire would burn it out but don't try this with with one bought at the bandit store as the metal may melt before the wood burns.

I probably replaced 7 or 8 handles on my 8 lb. maul during my wood splitting days. Do as was suggested earlier. Drill the stub of the old handle out, then insert a new handle. Make sure it is TIGHT by using inertia, i.e., bang the end of the handle vertically on an old piece of carpet or something else resilient laid on concrete (or something else non-resilient), to force the head down as tightly as possible against the handle. Then hammer in the wedge that should have come with the handle, trim off the excess, and you're ready to go. The reason the maul handle broke was always the same: eventually I'd swing out too far, and the handle instead of the head hit the wood to be split, and the handle would split instead. Then I found a large rubber block with a hole in it, made specifically to slip over the new handle on replacment, and rest next to the maul head, cushioning the impact if the handle hit the wood to be split. This worked perfectly, as I never again had to replace a handle. If you can't find this device, I'd recommend wrapping an entire roll of duct tape around the 3 inches of the handle next to the maul head.

You can always try to get it covered under warranty. If they won't and you are handy enough, it is easy to get parts through the Sears Parts website. I recently got a new wheel and bag holder for our lawnmower and a drive belt for our washing machine. You may even be able to find a YouTube video on how to fix the dishwasher. The Keruig company realized that they were losing a lot of potential income because folks were using other brands of coffee in other brands of "K cups." So, with the new model of their coffee maker, they made a significant change -- only their own cups filled with their own coffee would work. There's a coding on the top of the cups that the machine has to "see" in order for it to work. Folks then got creative and found that they could remove the top of a "valid K-Cup" and attach it to the top of their preferred brand of cup and the machine would work. From what I understand, Keruig has given in to demand, and the very newest coffee makers will again accept all cups. Apparently, however, the OP got one that was made before the latest change.
