New K350 Keurig :-(

I have been using my preferred Cracker Barrel ground decaf coffee with the plastic "cups" purchased at BBB in my last 2 Keurigs. Last one just died after 2-1/2 years, which I understand is a good run. That said, the plastic cups that i filled with my own coffee are not compatible. ONLY Keurig marked pre-filled cups can be used. Not only more expensive but now I need to find a decent decaf in k-cups. End of whine.

I had the same problem. I was using the "as seen on tv" refillable pods that did not work in my new keruig. Go to target and buy the purple ones made specifically for keruig. They are a bit expensive at $14 each but they work in the new keurigs.

Not a lot of decaf options out there, at least not in my stores. I prefer Timothy's Colombian decaf. I've tried others but I always come back to Timothy's.

Take it back and get one that can use the refillable cups.

Glad to see another rec - I'm thinking about one myself. A friend of mine recently bought one (counter top model) and raves as well. He, like I, has gone through multiple coffee makers and has never been satisfied with the result. Let's face it, even with the perfect coffee maker, having freshly roasted beans on hand at all times and the time to grind them (and then dismantle and clean the grinder) when you want your quick fix in the morning, that is not a luxury many have these days. To me the Brew Express has seemed like a hokey idea since they first premiered. Basically cut a hole in your wall and stuff a coffee maker half-way in. Woohoo.

I had the same experience with Keurig - I was in shock. I had had my coffee maker for a bit over a year when it malfunctioned. I called Keurig to ask how to repair it and was advised that they would send me the new model completely with no cost to me whatsoever.

I'm the OP. The GFCIs are all on different circuits. You had to see 4 different people, 2 of them strong men, trying to get that plug into the outlet. No one was able to do it...not at all! As I mentioned earlier, I had some difficulty with my own TR outlets....these were impossible. Have to get my daughter to look for her receipts to return these outlets. Helene

Glenda posted that a friend had given her one...remember. My husband and I participated in testing the home version when they were still in the making. We used it for a long time but I have several coffee makers and I think the keurig is overpriced and the kcups too expensive. My favorite pot is a 4 cup Mr.Coffee ...I use it almost every morning...it makes probably the best coffee of any maker I have ever had including my most expensive coffee maker and my expresso machine. I know this little 4 cup machine is just a lucky happening as they all probably don't make wonderful coffee...but I won't gripe and I've had it forever. I don't drink enough coffee any more to worry about the cost but I refuse to pay the price for kcups and the keurig coffee maker just because of the principal of it...I think it's a rip off.

So yours doesn't have the metal basket hidden in the top of the unit? This can be filled with a coffee of your choice.

I drink decaf and the way to get the most options is online. You get a good deal and if you order a certain amount, it is free shipping. I order 4 boxes at a time.

I have used Green Mountain, and now I am using the Keurig site. My DH has used Costco for his coffee.

What is it about your old Keurig that went wrong. A couple of times I was sure that mine was broken. I put a cup of white vinegar through it with an old pod and it seemed to clear whatever was keeping it from working. You actually put the same cup of vinegar through two or three times and then flush with fresh water. I've had mine for at least four years now, but I only drink one cup a day.

The Keruig company realized that they were losing a lot of potential income because folks were using other brands of coffee in other brands of "K cups." So, with the new model of their coffee maker, they made a significant change -- only their own cups filled with their own coffee would work. There's a coding on the top of the cups that the machine has to "see" in order for it to work.

Folks then got creative and found that they could remove the top of a "valid K-Cup" and attach it to the top of their preferred brand of cup and the machine would work.

From what I understand, Keruig has given in to demand, and the very newest coffee makers will again accept all cups. Apparently, however, the OP got one that was made before the latest change.

I thought it was a crap move when Keurig took away the option of a refillable cup. About time they made compatible reusables again.

A search indicates that there are indeed compatible refillable cups, so I will get a couple. I am trying Timothy's until I can buy the ref. Cups. BTW, the pump went. The person at BBB said that they last about a year with our use, so 2-1/2 wasn't so bad.

To me this whole Keurig fad is the best sales job since the pet rock. I'll stick with my plain old $10 Proctor-Silex for drip (still going strong after 25+ years) and my (preferred) percolator (which seem to go on forever) for making good coffee. Although I drink coffee, not Albanian Turnip/Havarti Cheese lattes. And black. The way (insert your preferred deity) meant it to be enjoyed. And I can make as much or as little as I want so the "1 cup" argument fails here. And I can use any coffee I want. Isn't that the way it SHOULD be?

Actually, I would prefer our Farberware percolator, BUT, (1) DH drinks hi test and I have to drink a limited amount of decaf, and (2) even before I had to switch to de-caf, our get-up hours were and are widely varied, so coffee that sat in a pot for several hours is not very satisfying to say the least. It works for us. And no, I'm not going to deal with 2 percolators every day.

They also make very simple and very inexpensive (talking twenty bucks here!) drip coffee pots that only make one cup at a time. They are just like tiny little drip coffee pots, imagine they took a Mr. Coffee and shrunk it down. They have a reusable tiny little basket to put your coffee in. I don't understand why these little gems aren't more popular and why people want to pay big bucks when you can accomplish the very same feat for twenty dollar and use whatever coffee your little heart desires? Another thing, the coffee these make is delicious! :)

I agree, Arkansas_Girl. But I have a KitchenAid that makes 4 cups at a time. Bearing in mind that to "the industry" a cup of coffee is 5 ounces, this coffee pot makes 2 mugs worth of coffee, which is perfect for me. Hubs likes much stronger coffee than I do, and he drinks more coffee than I do, so he can maker whatever octane he wants in the big pot and I can make the coffee I like in my little pot.
