Suggestions Wanted for having my Picture Taken
Comments (13)Call your portrait studio to find out what color the background will be so that you can wear a becoming color. Be sure to select something that contrasts with your own skin color and nothing too bright, patterned, busy, etc. You might consider bringing a wardrobe change and accessories. Then you're not stuck with one look. If you don't ordinarily wear jewelry......don't don any for the portrait. If you do, be ultra conservative. I agree that you shouldn't wear much more or different makeup than is normal for you on a dressy outing. Same rule applies for your hair. Don't get a fancy 'do' just for the portrait. A good portrait studio will be happy to give you tips over the phone in order that your sitting will be successful. It's a lovely, thoughtful gift and one that will be treasured by your family forever....See MoreI want to kill a tree naturally with vine, any suggestions?
Comments (13)I disagree with the view expressed above that vines never kill trees. I'm talking about the shading-out of the trees foliage here, not the common and erroneous thought by some that vines "strangle" their host trees. That's nonsense, but take something like riverbank grape up here, or what have you down south.....because of the exuberant growth characteristics of many vines, they can indeed completely grow around and shade out the foliage, especially of conifers, such that the host tree declines and pretty much dies. This doesn't happen overnight, of course, but happen it does. I think your initial idea has merit. Just be sure to select vines of vigor, as I'm sure you intend to. +oM ps....an ecological journal I review recently had an article about vines in the tropics...about their seeming to have developed an upper hand in the fight for light and space with rainforest tree species. The gist of the article was that, for reasons not yet elucidated, vines are gaining the upper hand. Increased CO2 is being looked at as a likely factor here. It seems perhaps the vine species are especially adept at acclimating themselves to higher CO2 levels, giving them an advantage they didn't used to have. For my part-this in a decidedly non-tropical part of the world- it seems the wild grape is on a frenzy, especially with roadside trees and especially with conifers, their tiered branch arrangement making for an easy climb. Definitely worse than it used to be, IMO....See MoreAny suggestions on what I can replace these with ?
Comments (10)yes, remove the medallion (or, try painting it the same color as the ceiling and see if it makes it less ornate looking. you could always remove it if that doesn't work) also consider doing two single pendants over the island. here are a few ideas w/coordinating dining lights (not matchy-matchy!) And some single pendant lights. I realize this is more modern, but you could find something less so. I love this one from pottery barn. there are a lot of similar looking dining table lights that would work w/it. This is my own dining light: some others: island or dining table pendant (ignore the finishes. you can do whatever metal color you like)...See MoreAny suggestions to bring my 2000 kitchen into 2022? Chairs are gone.
Comments (38)I adore your kitchen. It is beautiful and has character and looks like a place I would want to be. The cabinetry is beautiful inset and shows craftsmanship. The ONLY thing that I dislike is the accent tile behind the range, but it isn’t so off putting that I would turn my nose up. Can I move in?...See MoreHU-187528210
