I can't find the peony i want anywhere.. any suggestions?
Comments (13)You can try growing them from seeds. On eBay, they always have the auctions for 20 seeds, starting at 99 cents and they come in all different colors so you might find the kind that you want. They even sometimes have the one for 50 seeds at 99 cents which is harder to bid, but I've won it before a few times at the starting bid. If they are planted now, most of them will likely germinate spring of 2013, but they are very rewarding and I believe they are well worth the wait, if you have a spare garden bed or pots for them. They also have a very high germination rate. Here's my latest blog on them. Here is a link that might be useful: seedlings...See MoreAny suggestions for replacing swinging door hinges?
Comments (3)Thanks! Yep, sadly the floor-mount type is indeed the kind we have...ah well! :) One of the two hinges sold by HoAH is a pretty close match for the size, though, so we think it will be feasible to retrofit it to the door/floor by filling a section of the floor (and maybe the door too, though fingers crossed that the fit will be close enough there). We have a really crazy floor situation where it was actually mounted to the fir subfloor *before* the oak floor with inlay was laid around/on top of it---so it was quite a feat to get the door down to begin with (though the flip side of that is that I suspect it's why the door was still in the house at all---too much work for past owners to get it off!) I ordered that one to test out and see, but was curious to know if anyone had experience with it or any of the others (or good advice on retrofitting!)...See MoreCan't find any good reviews of carpet. Any suggestions?
Comments (17)Stanton, Mashland, Karastan (higher end) are wonderful products, and I would go wool. However, Smart Strand is a good medium priced option. Agree with Elizabeth B…the padding makes a huge difference. I always recommend SmartStep. It has a waterproof barrier which keeps spills (and other liquids…(woof, woof) from seeping into the pad. Ever tried to remove a stain from a rug, think you have accomplished it and two days later it is back? It is because the culprit is in the pad and not the rug. If. the pad needs to be seemed, have the seem duct taped or as I have always called the product DuckTape....See MoreAny suggestions on replacing front porch awning.
Comments (1)My porch is covered with this awning which appears to be sloping in and the paint is constantly peeling. What are some options to have this area redone/replaced/rebuilt? Thank you....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
