Window treatment help for odd shaped windows

Hi,

This is a photo of our great room. Trying to figure out the best placement for window treatments that make sense. We are thinking to go with some electric shades across the lower level windows and doors , but I feel like I would like some sheer panel curtains as well to add some warm to the room. The first question is 1) where to add them that would look good. Originally i was thinking right above the windows and door (or below the large half moon and quarter windows) (see second photo) but then i think they would look better higher, but not sure if it would look weird with a curtain rod cutting across the large half moon window (see third photo), any suggestions?

Second question is if I do add curtains where do i place them on the sliding doors/windows on the walls on either side of this? at the same level as the back set (i.e over the window and door or just over the door) see last pic for what the side doors/windows look like there is one on both side walls.

Waht do you need from the window coverings like heat and UV controp , privacy etc?

@Patricia Colwell Consulting so the shades will cover the privacy/UV contrl, the curtains will basically just be for aesthetics

Wow, just wow -- never seen any quite like that. A pic from inside might help. First thought: Locally at least , Home Depot and Advance Auto Parts (and likely other places), carry a plastic tint film that will help block light and give you some privacy during daytime; however, with the lights on at night, you'll need an indoor window treatment. Edited: Forget the corner cabinet idea; unaware the windows were in a stairwell. Louvered doors (installed as if the windows were a corner cabinet) painted the same white as the trim might still be an idea worth considering.

thank you everyone for all the suggestions. we're trying to avoid the ceiling mount drapery effect across the open loft, but that is a possibility. and we thought about creating some kind of hinged shutter - foam core is an interesting idea - but the space below the windows is not large enough nor could we fit any kind of shutter hinged to the side. Sigh... this is why these windows are such a pain. And we're trying for a homemade solution to avoid the expense of a blind company.

You have a few options when it comes to your windows and they depend mostly on your budget. So you can have long motorized roller shades that cover all three window with one unit for example. Or you do individual units but manual operation for each window with the top and middle units pretty much fixed with a transparent or light translucent fabric. If the windows had been treated as one when they were being trimmed out, without drywall in between them (and beefier trim all around!), you’d have a much easier time deciding on a window treatment. Fortunately, this can easily be done now: Now you have ONE (double) window that can be treated as such! You could also make it a “triple” window:

Roller shades or Roman shades that raise and lower would be odd and impractical in front of doors. If you have them lowered even a tad the door is blocked.

The logical solution is no shades but drapes for doors and windows and hung on the horizontal beam across all windows and doors in the room. Make the rods wide so they can open without blocking any glass.

I would hang them the same height as the side doors which would be just above the sliders. I have solar shades on my slider but for the doors to operate they need to be hung on the trim above the door not on the slider itself. I also think that curtains on doors & windows in a room that size need to be a more substantial fabric than sheers

This is a good alternative. Drapes instead of sheers over the blinds. It looks like one of these does block part of the door but that's okay I guess.

Thanks everyone! ill keep the window shades to the lower level directly above the doors/windows
