The problem with a Kerdi shower is that it's difficult to pop tile off the membrane after the thinset has cured without damaging the membrane, so resetting the curb to have proper pitch back to the shower isn't a simple repair. That said...it's still up to the GC to provide remediation. If you want a pitched curb, tell him so. It's between him and the tiler to make things right, and not at your expense. If you can settle for a dam on the curb, the only warning I'll give is that if water is pooling on the curb, it'll still be pooling there with a dam, so you might end up wiping it down with a towel after each shower. You could opt for a dam to see how it works out with the option of going with a rebuild of the curb if the dam doesn't suit you. And a common come back from the tiler is "The Schluter curb isn't pitched, the top is flat." So? Some guys shave the curb to have a pitch, some just add extra thinset under one side of the tile to pitch the tiles. Whatever agreement you come to, consider putting it in writing, especially since this had turned into a "he said, she said" blame game. And no worries on your low-tech design methods. I laid out the floor plans and basic elevations of this house with sidewalk chalk on a driveway.

I wish I'd known - the contractor said that the shower door people couldn't come out and measure until after the tiling was done, so I have put off these decisions (so busy with so many others). Now I have no idea where the studs are. The location of the glass will be right next to the door into the room, and I'm sure there's framing around it, but I don't know how wide it is. The shower glass will be less than 4" from the door opening. I wish I'd looked at this when everything was open. I'm sure the contractor knows, but he's on vacation at the moment. Are the bottom supports the same as the side supports, suero?

Too Clunky! Sclee I can see why you tossed and turned worrying about this. You know in your heart it is too clunky. The worst part is that this manager or owner is not being helpful. His company made a mistake! Period. If this is how they measure granite installations then he has had this problem before and will continue to have this problem with future clients. He is NOT a stone artist. Measure twice cut once. And cut to perfection. Use sharp tools and be precise. Measure every nook and cranny! If they can not fix this they need to give you a fair discount. And then you can hire some other Stone company to make this better. Trust me there are better stone companies out there. Granite installers/fabricators that have talent and truly care about their work. Shame on this company. I hope he does read these posts because he needs to straighten out his company. Start over with new granite slabs and a new company. I know, I know you love the stone but do you really love the gaps. If it is not going to work you will forever be upset with the outcome. And you will find another beautiful stone. Perhaps this slab can be converted to a window sill or end tables or bathroom vanity, night stand, bathtub sill, desk, entry way. As for your DH. He is under stress too. Husbands like to solve problems and when they can't they become a little edgy, difficult, stubborn, or they turn it on to you saying you are "overreacting". Hi yes - thank you for the response. Actually, ~50% of the cabinets are brand new custom cabinets. The whole reason I ordered the customs was so that I could get the spacing even, or at least somewhat even. I was told that going with all new semi-custom was not allowed. The Home Depot rep's exact words were "I can't let you do that, you have already paid the deposit". I said I didn't understand because the order hadn't been placed yet, he told me I could change my mind on anything before the order was placed and that I would buy them from Home Depot. He said "Sorry, Home Depot will penalize you a lot of money". But I could do some total customs because it was his dept (i.e. he gets commission). The installation manager told me during the install that they should have never accepted my job as a reface (there were a number of other complications). So I'm not sure what to do now.
