Glad that my suggestion may help, gatormomx2. The "pot-within-a-pot" system has the added benefit of protecting the tree from blow-over damage in strong winds. Also, you can incorporate a tree into a garden area without it looking out-of-place. For my Key lime, I used those circular storage tubs you can get from WalMart for about $5-6 each, and they have heavy woven nylon rope handles. Cut a few drainage holes in the bottom, and they're good to go. puglvr1 -- I use the large 10x12 frost blankets, and try to use them double-thickness when I can, although on the larger trees I have to spread them all the way out. As for heat, I, too, use Christmas lights on a couple of trees. But for my mango trees and citrus, I use a 140-foot heating cable I bought from Charley's. I planted six of my most sensitive trees (including three mangoes) near an outside outlet, so I can loop about 8-10 feet of cable around the base of each tree. The entire cable puts out 700 watts, so each foot is worth 5 watts...not much. As the trees get larger, I'm going to have to augment with Christmas lights (on a different circuit!) as well. The winter temps up here are brutal! This past winter, even with the heat and frost blankets, killed my jakfruit and knocked my Mallika mango back to an inch of the graft. It's so frustrating to try to grow nice things, and so incredibly labor-intensive too. I must have rocks in my head... -Bruce

If you have new green growth, it will likely survive but you set it back a long ways. You gave your pepper plant a severe case of sunburn. Basically the same thing that happens to us if we go outside without protection early in the spring. Usually we don't loose our arms, legs and hair though. Give the upper stem a little more time to recover, but if it continues to die, then prune it just above the new growth. In the future you need to "harden off" your peppers before dumping them out there in the brutal sun and wind.

I have photos of my room below and the current state of my plant dishes :) Dish A: - i removed the majority of the small microscopic pebbles (i still need more of the new bigger ones, ran out) and replaced it with this dressing, (is this chicken grit???) - i also removed the zebra plant and placed it on a different dish. is this group okay? :) - i watered this dish for the first time after 2 weeks since i repotted the plants. i only spritzed them last week when i posted this thread. for watering, i followed the tips here: http://www.succulentsandsunshine.com/how-to-water-succulent-plants/3/ - A lot of the Sedum's leaves have fallen off. however, i noticed these small buds. Is it growing back or is it dying? i don't know Dish B: This larger dish is still a work in progress. I left a small portion of the pot for propagating since i don't have any extra pots yet. I placed the zebra plant here and got a new Echeveria. i made sure that the leaves don't touch the soil. will this group be okay? will the plant varieties live well together? :) this is a close-up photo of the potting mix i am using. will this do? how about the leaves i'm planning to propagate? will the shriveled ones die? that baby cactus has roots btw :) i spritzed these babies before i left for the weekend. My room window leads out to our laundry area, which has a bunch of windows that leads outdoors, in front of our neighbor's roof hahaha my room is in the second floor :) it gets stifling hot inside my room during daytime, especially noon. and i get lots of indirect sunlight. will this be okay for my plants? i'm usually out for work during the daytime, i don't want to leave them in the laundry area because sometimes when it rains, water gets in from the windows and i'm afraid they would get soaked and i'd have to deal with overwatered succs again. we're actually having rainshowers this week, but still lots of sun. i left them like this, and i wont be back after 2 days. i hope they will be okay! Not enough draining going on. The top Echeveria you should cut the top off till good flesh is exposed. No brown parts. So the rot doesn't spread to the pup on the side. The Lime and Chile Echeveria is probably a goner from the looks of it. Once that center is rotted there's no turning back. I have had miracles happen;). Don't hold your breath though. Succulents should always be in containers with drainage holes. I'm not saying without the drainage holes it can't be done, but it's more complicated;). Also, adding half perlite or pumice makes all the difference in the world;).
