Echeveria turning purple from the stem out towards the tips of leaves

Sam Hatch

I have two echeverias turning purple from the stem outwards.

This blue sky echeveria deteriorated very quickly over a period of 3 days ( I left my house for 3 days and when I came back it was deflated and most of the big bottom leaves had already started turning purple, as well as the two flower stalks). After reading bernardyjh 's theory about echeveria's roots getting too hot and crisping (http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3200375/a-series-of-unfortunate-succulents) I repotted it in dry soil and it hasn't seemed to do much except deteriorate a little slower. Here are pictures of how it looks now:

I also have a lime and chile echeveria that just started to do the same thing:

Does anyone have any ideas/advice/suggestions for what might be going on?

Thank you!!
