It’s probably too late now but this is why I installed a farm sink. I had the same problem before I remodeled my kitchen, and it’s probably a bad installation as well.

Sorry to see this sort of sloppy work still being done. Whenever ordering any stone countertops for a client, the smart contractor tells the fabricators that any joints made in or around the sink will result in an automatic no payment clause. Completely un practical for cleaning, water/oil/s penetration etc not to mention structural issues on some types of stone.... At this point if you're keeping as is, all I could recommend is at minimum have a bottle of your chosen sealer and reapply regularly. Additionally, make sure your window to countertop joint is completely waterproofed with whatever finishing you plan on.

Also, just quickly looking at the first pic, no room for a quartz backsplash, countertop almost to the same height as the wooden? window, water on the window from dish washing will be interesting, no thoughts of practicality ....poor planning. Not hating on your kitchen, just pointing out some basic mistakes as someone who's built many of them.. Good luck & enjoy the new space !

Thanks! I think the sink location makes sense. I don’t understand why the seam by the sink is wider and more noticeable. The top close up is of the sink, the bottom close up is of the L shape seam. I think the L shape seam looks decent. The sink seam is wider and more noticeable though, and I am wondering why? I wouldn’t mind if it looked more like the L shaped seam.

The smart fabricator tells the GC to go pound sand.

I agree with you that the corner seam does look less noticable. Yeah, I would ask them about it.

Are these prefab counters or did you use a full slab? I wondered because usually when you chose to do a seam across the middle of the sink, you wouldn’t then have to have another one in the corner in such close proximity. Is that corner seam just a foot or so passed the dishwasher? Don’t you usually chose one location or the other, not both?

Also, I think I read from the pros on here that a perfectly straight seam starting right in the corner like yours is not the best. I think they said it is not as strong or can shift as cabinets settle??? If my memory is working, I believe they usually recommend either a french miter or the radius seam as shown here. I had to look it up this picture because I couldn’t remember what they were called. 🤪

The sink center is the LEAST noticeable place for a seam.

And quartz , which it appears you have, does NOT need a seal. Install your sink and move on.

Why do you have a corner seam at all? Given we are seeing no full picture of the kitchen....

You should be, however, you're getting that at the window stool that's below the countertop.

Your slabs appear to be prefabricated engineered stone. The slightly rounded factory edge was not removed before the seam at the corner was made. The adhesive filling the radius to flush is causing an elongated fat adhesive line.

I think you seams look OK... but why does your counter look higher up than your window?
