I guess I’m not seeing the problem. As long as you move the light fixture, you can move the table wherever you like in that space. There’s no reason to centre it on the window and doing so would not make any sense given the location of the island. Just decide on the most comfortable place for the table in relation to both the island and the living room space and then move the light.

Looks like electricity needs to be installed over the table to mount lighting properly. Once you figure the placement the table can shift out further.

As you have the table now, is that what you mean by more centered in the space? It looks like you have decent clearance from the bar and the couch. Would you like it if the light was centered over where the table is now? Or do you mean you want to move the table closeer to the couch?

It's not clear to me what you are asking.

You could buy a small round table and move it so it is not centered with the window. Have a electrician fish wire from your pendants and put in proper over head lighting…just do small can lighting in ceiling…..than you can put table anywhere and not have to worry about being directly under a pendant light.

The most sensible way is the way you have it. It's right where it belongs as equal space on each side. Just center the new light or old to the ceiling spot on the middle of the table and you're all set. Nothing has to be so fussy that you give up space and smarts.

To my eye, the room will always look off due to that mantel like painted trim over blank wall. A round table will probably improve the feel too.

You can't have it both ways - with the table centered to the window and also be able to use the bar stools. CHOOSE!

Then put up your real chandelier(i hope what is there, is not staying).

I think the placement is fine but would look better with a much larger chandelier that will act as the thing the table is centered on instead of the window. If you could have it hardwired, that would be ideal, but otherwise you can do the swag thing with a larger fixture.

I agree with others — table is fine, placement is fine, just needs a fixed light fixture.

No round table there, rectangle is best for this area.

I think the consensus is to move the light, and if possible not to swag it.

I think it makes sense as this way there is adequate clearance and will be proper lighting.

I was following because I have a somewhat similar situation ( some might remember oh a year or two ago I asked about selection of chandeliers. and I do have a somehwat offcentered table and what to focus on? I don't do anything quickly lol).

It's a good suggestion raised about putting in recessed lights throughout the room so no issue of moving the table but for simplicity I think just center the light over the table.

I think a more substantial fixture would be even better, and not hung quite as high.
