Front door help, please!

Looking for a new front door - this door came unfinished and won't hold any type of paint/stain/finish. Furthermore, it sustained damage from a contractor. In direct sunlight for most of the day. Any ideas for color and type since the garage door is also forward facing? Reasonable budget contraints. Many thanks!

If the door is fiberglass, it "should" hold a paint/stain. Garage door is likely an aluminum skinned product and is painted in this case. As far as stainable fiberglass doors, HMI and Provia make good ones.

Hi there - thank you for posting! For some added curb appeal, definitely update the color of the garage, front door and two peaks in the front. Make the peaks a fresh, bright white like PPG's Delicate White. The front door and garage door would benefit from a nice, rich navy/gray - like PPG's Silver Blueberry. Best, Meghan

#3. All brick with siding under porch. Get rid of faux stone accents on corners at foundation. Do not pay extra for those. They are awful. If you have to have stone, only do it along the base of the foundation. Paint the garage doors as close to the color of the brick that you select to remove emphasis of huge garage doors. There is no hiding them, but you don't want them to be the focal point. Why #3? It has the most simple elevation and avoids most of the McMansion from Hell elements. That's why. If it were me, I'd do all brick. Then, I'd paint the brick and garage door the same color.

I'm no expert but I think you're right, you probably want to keep the garage door matched closely to the brick around it so you don't highlight the garage. I think the bright white on the front door looks nice but maybe to make to stand out more a different color would be fun, but yeah, not red, lol! Ok, I'm no help but hopefully my comment will bump it up.

Both the front door and garage door need to be darker. Your existing colors do no go at all, its too light.

A southern exposure is going to be hard on any finish, so whatever you decide to do I would resign myself to having to refresh it frequently.

Is the door in good shape outside of the finish issue? If so, have you had a professional take a crack at refinishing?

If that is off the table, I'd agree with the above, Provia, HMI, and HomeGuard make very nice entry doors in fiberglass or steel. The latter two are someowhat regionally available. A factory applied finish being baked enamel if painted, or automotive grade clear coat over stain will do the trick in terms of standing up to the elements.

Color-wise, I think that the pics above showing either stain that matches your garage door or paint that matches the windows are probably the two obvious choices. My vote would be to match the garage door unless you plan to change that.
