Cute? Or Creepy?

I have given most of my ”good” gold and gemstines jewelry to various nieces.

Now I want to wear something fun and colorful but not too expensive.

Are these earrings cute and colorful; or do they look like flesh-melting slugs from a 1980s horror film?

I love them love those colors. I have lots of those colors in my wardrobe.

Only thing for me is they aren't for pierced ears and those clip ons always ached like the devil!

pelican: That looks very much like the common garden spider I saw out on the blackberries last week. Presuming you don't pester them to the point they feel the need to bite in self defense they are harmless, but great mosquito catchers. Nevertheless, I too have noticed an unusual number of web building spiders this season and am frankly perplexed as to the reason, because until we started catching the northen edges of the recent tropical storms last week, we have suffered a very dry summer and in exchange for corn crops looking dicey, have been virtually mosquito free. Indeed, we have seen far fewer flying insects in general this year, which does not bode well for the reproductive success of birds that rely on soft foods to feed their hatchlings. So what have all those spiders have been living on all summer, let alone give them the energy to reproduce in such profusion?

fgoldberg - I got them all from different places, but Marietta Gardens has Baby Blues, Driving Me Wild, Mystical Rainbow, Seal of Approval (it seems expensive there) and Siloam David Kirchhoff. Homestead Farms has Baby Blues, Driving Me Wild, Pony and Sings the Blues. I've ordered from both and been happy with my orders. Also, if I remember correctly you live in Montgomery County - our daylily club is having a sale at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton on August 11 at 9 am (everything's $5 per double fan) and I'm going to try to divide Siloam David Kirchhoff and Sings the Blues for that sale. Or maybe it's the wrong link? Your link goes to the story of an Ohio elected official seen having sex with another male in his state office space. That seems to have nothing to do with Alabama. Sexual orientation and lying don't necessarily have a political party or geographic correlation. Charles Manson was born and raised, if you can call it that, in the Midwest and moved to California when he ventured into the world on his own. But it's true, the rest of us Californians are just like him.

I will add a pic from 3’ back later today Truly, i appreciate all of the input and suggestions. Yes, I initially thought Indian culture, but thd turreted castle and eagles looked a bit western/Germanic to me. St Edern- how interesting! It led me to an early depiction on a wood block of St Christopher. Perhaps I’m chasing my tail, but maybe Gosh- symbols of secret fraternal orders- Oh no! I fear that I shall never solve this mystery.

LOL I love them. I wouldn't have even thought of "slug look" until you said it. LOL

The colors would go perfectly with a Jacket of mine...but I need pierced too.

Now - WE have slugs and I've never seen one that pretty.

Those colors would be great with my eyes - I'd wear them if I wore clip-ons.

We can’t tell the size but they look heavy to me. And clips pinch. I see woodlice or armadillos, not slugs. But I do like the colours.

I think the colors are lovely and they look elegant to me. However, I am so glad I have pierced ears as I prefer that look.

I like them, but I wouldn't wear them myself.

A lot of jewelry mimics insects or other things that might otherwise seem creepy, such as snakes and lizards. I have a lizard pin that I wear occasionally.

FWIW I looked at the picture and thought about bugs before reading. They look like flamboyant roly polies. I actually think they look nice, but they do look like bugs. Don't know if they'd give that impression when worn.

That is a style that I always thought suited me. And, no, not slugs! Love the enamel + colors.

My ears are not pierced and I found most clip ons were fine.
