DIY: Easy Halloween Mantel
Decorate your mantel for Halloween with some simple additions to what's already there
Cristin Priest from Simplified Bee is a busy interior designer and parent, so she wasn't looking to do anything crazy when it came to Halloween. She wanted to decorate for the holiday but didn't want to deal with a mess or a hassle. After making a quick trip to the craft store, she came up with a cute display that didn't involve taking a single thing off her mantel.
White tulle serves as a more sophisticated and less messy version of cotton or polyester cobwebs. Glittery spiders found at a craft store add a fun accent, and Priest found a few orange books in her home to emphasize the Halloween theme. The black mice are from Martha Stewart. These cute paper cut-outs are a fun and easy accent that can be used just about anywhere.
To make use of her Chinese vase, Priest nestled a faux black crow into some autumn-like branches and berries.
For the center of this display, Priest wrapped orange wax paper around jars to create a place to prop up these letters. Priest bought the white letters from Michaels and added black glitter for extra Halloween style. Using Halloween-themed paper punchers, she created custom labels for plain white votives.

Priest got all of these decorations on a budget — almost everything was either found in her house, at Michaels, or in Martha Stewart's holiday decoration line. The black bat garland (visible just below the edge of the mantel) is from Martha Stewart, and the furry black owl (sitting on the adorable mini pumpkin) was found at Michaels.
