This hinges on two questions: material quality and fabricator skill. I went with Silestone when I did my built-up mitred counters in five rooms (five years ago) and have had no chipping. But that's because my fabricator was great and does solid-surface work only. Ensure you get a great result by working with a fabricator who comes highly recommended, who creates a full physical template of your counter plan, and who understands your expectations about finish quality and durability. Well, looked at Corian yesterday, some were good, but learned it can scratch easier than quartz. So, today, I narrowed down to 3 whites. Vicostone "Pure White", MetroQuartz '"Absolute White" and Silestone "Iconic White" in Suede N-boost finish, since the polished is too white. They all look good with the new cabinets. Fabricator/company where I'm purchasing from said, they are all very similar in quality and manufacturing. They feel however, that Silestone Brand is a small step above the other 2 brands. Well, the MetroQuartz, which I had never heard of, matches perfectly with the high gloss acrylic cabinets, and the Silestone came in lots more $$$. Is MetroQuartz a good choice and trusted brand? I also like the Vicostone. How do I decide?

I would also be interested in hearing how they are holding up. I have pure white quartz from Vicostone. They show marks from foil, pans, silverware ......basically everything that touches them. Thankfully bar keepers friend and a lot of scrubbing will remove the mark. However - the shine is now mottled or spotty. Looks like some areas are dusty and need buffing. Drives me crazy that there isn't a smooth and consistent shine. I am so very careful with them and have never used harsh chemicals. I have watered down the bar keepers friend so it won't be abrasive. My huge center island gets so much light and it bothers me that it isn't beautiful like it should be. Solid white isn't a good choice in my opinion. (or stay away from Vicostone)

Ended up not even needing to use acetone -- I noticed the metal thermos bottles my kids would drink out of would leave metal scratch marks on the surface as well. Bought the liquid bar keepers friend "soft cleanser" and tested it in a few inconspicuous areas first to ensure it did not damage the top or remove the shine at all, and it doesn't affect the top at all. Ended up applying that to the surface and it removed these marks, as well as the metal scratch marks on the surface.
