HELP! My new quartz countertop has a "melt" spot!!!
Comments (31)Hi I have an update for anyone that is curious. I have other construction/remodel priorities now to finish things around the house (like the bathroom on the first floor and staining the new staircase) and I don't have extra money to repair a chip that is really a cosmetic issue/concern. So after someone suggested the outrageous sum of $1k to repair a chip for a counter that cost about twice that, I was left with just estimates from purported "pros" and the chip. So I decided to do research and I found something that looks promising: http://www.discoveredit.com/procaliberproducts.aspx. I emailed them and they suggested the PRO paste since it was so close to the edge (vertical surface). They also have pretty cool cleaning/polishing products that I will buy and try. I will post pictures of the results when I get a chance. I was really impressed that Stone Tooling (a company out in CA that I ordered my Laticrete products from when I was waterproofing my bathroom) posted a review and trial of this stuff on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2f7GOTb_Mw. Anyway stay tuned for pics in about 2 weeks (I plan to order it today)....See Morebest ways to clean white quartz counter tops?
Comments (8)I have had Caesarstone for a couple of years now and I'll share some of the tips I learned from them and I've gotten over the years. -As much as you can, wipe up the spills. If you let it sit, you can soak it with warm water and dishwashing liquid. -Don't scrape hardened spills with razors or knives. Scrape them with a plastic ice pick. -Don't use abrasive liquids or solutions during cleaning. -Always use cutting boards and trivets whenever you're cutting vegetables or meat and when you need to remove a hot pot or hot pan. -Lastly, after cleaning the countertop, wipe down everything with a paper towel to prevent having watermarks. I hope these help!...See MoreKitchen remodel: mixing counter tops? butcher block and quartz?
Comments (1)We redid our kitchen a few years back and did most of the work ourselves. Also have hardwood (oak) floors throughout house. We eneded up covering the linoleum kitchen floor with engineered hardwood and it looks great. We did not try to match the tones of the hardwood floors adjacent to the kitchen and went with something very different in tones and grain. As for mixing countertop materials, I think it can look great! We did mostly soapstone and then light maple butcherblock and they look so nice together. I like the way the wood softens the overall look of the kitchen, and it is also a really pleasant (and quiet) work surface....See MoreDesign help! What countertops/quartz!? White and Gold Kitchen
Comments (8). these are MSI Laza countertops, but not the gold. do they have these in stock? Do you have a sample door of your cabinets? you should really get one when looking at white slabs to see how they look next to each other. Forget the backsplash until everything else is in. what if you did a solid quartz countertop and a marble tile splash? I did this w/mine. used calacatta gold on the tiles, have calacatta on my island, but went w/Silestone Eternal on the perimeter. (they also have the Charcoal version you might like better. here's a close up of mine. I was using black tiles elsewhere (coffee bar w/black/white cement tiles, and a black zellige tile floor inlay by the pantry), plus I have the Cafe in the black and a dark island, and thought it was too much black this is what it looks like in the charcoal here's a picture showing a black cafe fridge w/the dark countertop black and gold w/a quartz marble Cambria Bentley Porcelain slabs...See Moreeld6161
