Thanks everyone! I have a Monsieur Tillier (Tea) I will likely move to this area since he has become too big for his current location. Others I have considered are Sally Holmes and Perle D'or. Mutabilis is a possibility too. I currently have all 3 of these growing in 15 gal. cloth pots waiting for me to decide the best place to put them. I move them around to see how they do in a spot before I finally decide to plant them in their new home. Sometimes I suffer from "Paralysis of Analysis" because I dread having to dig them up and move them (like M. Tillier) once they have settled into a home and established a good root system. I fret I will kill them. I have Grandmother's Hat and her sport Larry Daniels ready to plant in their new locations I've chosen for them. Also, Le Vesuve, Mrs. B.R. Cant, Madame Antoine Mari and Madame Lambard (aka. Lombard) are ready to go into the ground this fall.

Thanks Randy - when I got Lovely Lorrie last year it was covered in buds and blooms - took my breath away when I opened the box. Thanks Niecey, Laurie, sorry! lol - I really loved Uncommon Roses and I'm so happy I went on a buying binge last summer and got a lot of roses from them - most of them are in pots due to space issues in the garden - but at least I have them! Smith's Parish was one of my very first purchases from Uncommon Roses (I got Charles de Mills & Fields of the Woods in that shipment as well) 4 years ago - my collection has since grown :o) - I'm an incurable Rose Addict! Perhaps the stylistic change is due to the influence of the Iceberg Theory which invites the "clean" and brusque lines of modernity to consume "messy" and elaborate descriptions of past eras as if only succinct writing opens the door for audiences to use our imaginations to read more--implicit content--into what is said explicitly? (How's that for en extended sentence?) The problem, of course, is that audiences only perceive the iceberg below the tip if our imaginations have been exercised, and we have developed the skill of successfully mining a text for clues to deeper meaning and implications. Otherwise, we can become as lost and doomed as the captain of the Titanic. Carol
