Bathroom makeover

Hi! I’m looking to make my bathroom less ugly by choosing a good color scheme and adding shelves or things for storage. The floor is very ugly but can’t be changed since it’s being rented, but is there any way to make the bathroom look somewhat expensive?

Well I don't know about expensive...the tile was not CHEAP but I would reduce the competing colors/style. The walls need to be something that blends with the tile..the gray is conflicting. A warm barely there golden tone? The shower curtain is waaay too bossy. One bossy element (the tile) is enough. I see no shower head, is a curtain necessary? A framed mirror would give you some class. Utilize the storage you have and look into a storage else where for that which doesn't fit. The bath mat is the offending gray it will also need to be improved.

The photo shows the former renters' things like your bedroom post, right? Since you are renting, spend your money on things that can go with you.

If you want it to look "somewhat expensive", pick a quiet color scheme for shower curtain, towels and bath mats. White, blue, or brown would be fine. If you must add storage such as a wall-hung cabinet, make sure it has closed doors, and get written permission from the landlord before drilling installation holes in the wall. The finish should match the vanity (white). Keep everything put away in drawers except for soap in a pretty soap dispenser (not plastic) on the counter. Replace the burned out light bulb and the other two bulbs with identical bulbs to avoid uneven lighting.

Add an orchid to the counter if you want some greenery. Rotate it with a fresh one when it finishes blooming.

Since you're looking to do most of the labor yourself, your biggest expense is going to be the vanity followed by the counter top. It's crazy how much these two things will cost. For the vanity, consider checking out places that offer second hand building materials. Then, look into remnants the counter fabricator may have leftover from other jobs.

What are you willing to do? Are you willing to change out the vanity? You can paint it a lighter version of your floor color. But, I would research how it’s done properly if DIY. I would add handles to the drawers and doors. you can also look into gel staining. You can make it an espresso color.

I wouldn’t do a lot until you have what it takes to redo this space. ( I would possibly swap the toilet and sink. ) For now, Paint the vanity. New countertops and if possibly hardware ( including faucets ) Paint the walls.

Usually in a renatl putting up shelves is not advisable but you could buy an over the tank storage piece that just sits on the floor. I need to see the tub that looks very odd to me.I would noy have a busy shower curtain , no mat on the floor and all the stuff on the counter put away.Change the bulbs to LED 4000K I don't know what the 2 jugs are sitting on the tub deck but they need to be put away.
