Comments (17)Wow - lots of great ideas - I never add salt - so OK there. My scallops were big! In noticed how much smaller they were in the video and always dry scallops - I forget there are even wet ones out there! Yuck! Good idea with the rolling pin for the herbs! I almost used my Staub - it has a higher side and would have been easier to keep the cooktop somewhat reasonable... Also will check out the link!!! And I have this new probe for checking temperature - Got it for Christmasm = thermoworks.. I have some fake scallop shells - what a great idea - I could put the couscous in the shells and then the scallops over top. Thanks...See MoreWhole Salmon Fillet...... best way to cook it?
Comments (36)I am much too late to be of any help to starlightfarm with her salmon dinner, but here is a really good recipe for a whole salmon. Salmon Baked in Foil Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune 1 whole salmon, 6-8 lb and cleaned 1 c sliced carrots 1 c sliced onion 1 c sliced celery ½ tsp fresh thyme Salt to taste 8 peppercorns, crushed 1 garlic clove, crushed 1 bay leaf 2 c dry white wine Preheat oven to 400F. Cover a baking sheet with foil. In bowl combine carrots, onion, celery, thyme, salt, peppercorns, garlic, bay leaf and wine. Place cleaned salmon in center of baking sheet, stuff with vegetable mixture and seal foil tightly around salmon. Bake 50-60 minutes or until salmon is opaque in thickest part. Remove from oven and cool. Once cool, remove skin from fish and serve warm or chilled with Hollandaise or your choice of sauce. Makes 8-10 servings. Linda...See MoreNeed Floor! Comments (6)Yay! Some responses! (First...THANKS A MILLION! for getting some of the pictures right on the page for me! Yay! I just think it's easier to understand questions when the real thing is right before you) FYI if it helps with suggestions: The adjoining sunroom has ceiling and walls in wood...which is why I am thinking a tile or ceramic will be a little better (to offset all that wood). Do you agree? Or doesn't it really matter? My granite is mainly black (and gray and brown and there's a cream and a bluish gray too)... If I go all the way to my foyer door with the new flooring, do you think I'll be shell-shocked because it's not carpet like I'm used to? And, if I do that I know I'll want a better quality looking material. I just can't imagine a vinyl in that scenario...can you? Anyone know of a nice "ashy" tone grey slate-like tile? I have looked at DuraCeramic Urban Slate but wasn't sure if there was too much going on with it (or if there was too much of a light blue in the gray and also too much tan)...(or am I getting too picky and trying to match exactly with granite?) I'm also concerned about grout lines (being busy). Whatdya think? Thanks again for your help : )...See Moremade scallops, first time :o)
Comments (20)Thanks everyone... after posting here, I went to Wal-mart (right across the street and open 24 hrs, thank goodness) and got some Benadryl. I also checked their price on scallops (just for "fun") and realized that Publix raped me on that price... Wal-mart 3 difference sized scallops and none of the bags were over 10 dollars! Of course these were probably from China... the Publix ones were from Canada. Of course I won't ever worry about that again... I can't eat those things anymore! It's no fun to itch all over at the same time, but at least the reaction wasn't more severe. Rob333, don't feel bad. Who knew this was going to happen? The only other thing I'm allergic to is salmon, which is OK since I don't love it. Guess it's crab cakes and shrimp for me from now on! Thanks for your concern everyone. I'm OK this morning (or afternoon), and finally got to sleep. Last night when it happened, I took a hot bath with oatmeal because I didn't know what was going on. I was so confused and I thought that would help the itching. I thought I got something on my skin or something! I promise I will not start a thread asking for scallop recipes! I still have half the bag left that I've got to throw away or give to someone... I even vacuum sealed the extra so they wouldn't get freezer burn!...See Moreplllog
