Heirloom Roses Annual Summer Sale - Anyone Going?
Comments (8)Yay! Yes, I went and what a great time. Just love going and seeing all of roses at a cheaper price. Only wish that I had gone first thing this morning for better selection. Oh, and I can never get out of there without buying a couple at regular price. I bought an Austin, Happy Child to place in a container and the Impressionist which I was most excited about. This is their top selling Clements rose and it is much like an Austin, fragrant and gorgeous. Didn't think that it would be in the 1/2 offers. My husband came with me and he was trying to be Mister Macho telling me that he didn't really have much input about the rose garden (when we arrived there were more women there). . .blah, blah, blah--when all of sudden he spots a beautiful Eden (Pierre de Ronsard) growing on an archway. Next thing I know he's in the rose house picking the best one he could find at full price. It is a beautiful rose, so much more attractive than its pictures. One thing that I didn't know about Heirloom is that they have a lot more roses for sale than are in their catalog. I have been researching roses that do well in rain and someone told me about Rosarium Uetersen and I hadn't been able to locate it. Heirloom had some!! Have to go back and really go through everything -- take my time. Then I'll be even more broke and have to find more room in my garden for roses. Comments (15)Edna, darling, I've been planning my day tomorrow in my head all night tonight (decipher that). I'm going to beg off the trip to Annie's tomorrow. If I were just getting the potager planted it would have been okay. But today's beautiful rain and the The Great Stink from that compost has set me back this weekend. I have a lot of planting and tilling to do. Imagine my disappointment! I was looking so forward to playing together in our Radio Flyers! But them's the gardening breaks. Here's my booty for the potager tomorrow: 6 Tomatoes (Cherokee Purple, German Striped, Yellow Brandywine, Black Zebra, Super Girl and Roma), 2 sweet peppers, Swiss Chard, Blue Lake beans, and early Dutch cabbage. There's other stuff in there too ;-)...See More2nd Annual FOTESS Yard Sale!
Comments (106)Melinda, so sorry to hear about your poor health but I sure hope you are on the mend soon. I am encouraged to see that you feel ok enough to post on GW!! Thoughts of good health are headed your way! Margo, so sorry to hear about your friend Mona being diagnosed with cancer. I hope everything turns out for the best. It's amazing how much things like this impact us all. I'm trying to narrow down choices for the yard sale. It's hard!! Shirley, As requested: my pet robin. As of this week, baby robin has finally become independent. Yesterday was the first day s/he didn't answer me when I called, which means the robin raising was a success!...See MoreBart O'Brien Speaker Sept 2 at Annie's Annuals!
Comments (5)I have a $50 gift card from Annie's (received from a friend on this forum after sending her a box of plants) and I don't believe in having to pay that $25.95 shipping to Tx. .....that's more than half of the value of the gift card. I'm hoping to maybe trade with someone that could actually go to Annie's nursery and redeem the gift card. I'm interested in a multi colored Plumeria (Rainbow) in exchange. Any one know someone interested? I called them a few days ago and every plant that I wanted to order, was not available. I waited to call (since in the 2017 catalog), one of the plants that interest me, wasn't available until June. Happy Gardening, Jeannie :)...See Moresmithdale1z8pnw
