Help me design a bathroom around this vanity! Stuck on tile/motif
Comments (14)Just finished tiling my bathroom and I too will be installing a contemporary dark cabinet (American standard studio.. http://www.americanstandard-us.com/products/productDetail.aspx?id=1925) but instead it will a have squared sink also sitting on top of a glass counter top. I wanted to somehow tie in the color of the glass tiles and counter top and this is the combo I came up with. my wife and just about anybody who has seen the bathroom absolutely loved it. Ill try and post some pics. Trying to explain how these tiles look together just does not do them any justice glass tiles from: (have more green to them than the pic shows) http://www.glasstilestore.com/product_p/taobliss.htm subway tiles from: http://www.tileshop.com/products/detail.aspx?categoryID=6&subcategoryID=37&familyID=1277&Record_ID=8656...See MoreHelp designing around these bulky brown couches
Comments (20)Yeah, I'm getting a lot of criticism for my comment. Fair enough. I'm suggesting to tread lightly like the flag would indicate. I couldn't care a less about the marital status. I'm talking new relationship status. You are new roommates. Give it some time to learn when, how and where to compromise. Your original question was what to do with those man cave couches? I suggest a couple of light colored, probably cream or white throws that can be spread across the couch. They will break up the black a bit. When winter comes, they will be good for snuggling. A bright patterned area rug in a coral or a turquoise might work. While I like your brown patterned rug, I like the idea of some cheerful color. Some bright colored ceramic lamps that coordinate with the rug that are larger in size than what is currently in the space will add light and interest to the area. Bring your metal and glass coffee table over. It's very nice. If you have metal and glass side tables, they would be great instead of the heavy wooden ones. If you have some framed art or prints, now is the time to include them. Ask him to compromise on the man furniture and maybe you can get him to remove one of those behemoth recliners. Acquire something smaller, lighter and upholstered for occasional seating. Best of luck to you. It's always an adjustment to move into someone else's space....See MoreHelp me marry my modern gray sofa to my transitional-ish living room
Comments (50)I'm pretty sure the real reason (as opposed to it just being about my superior tastes, lol) that the mister defers questions on all decor and furnishing matters to me, is so he won't have to disappear for an undetermined length of time like the OP's husband. ;) The rug thing has always been a bit confusing to me when the house has what looks like lovely hardwood flooring - rugs cover that up! Unless it's a basement, in which case I totally get wanting to be able to use the space during the winter and not freezing in the process, therefore a rug if not carpet is needed. I can't tell if the curtains are sheers? Honestly I'm more of a 'put blinds up' for windows kind of gal, if the windows require covering for privacy (don't want to give the neighbors a show or anything, lol). Window coverings also help protect darker upholstery from fading due to sun exposure, and to a lesser extent the same goes for noticeable fade and discoloration of lighter colors. Everyone loves a room with lots of big windows providing natural light, all I can think of is what their utility bills during the summer must be like and that they probably don't have a sapphire blue velvet sofa they're anxious to keep from fading and vacuum religiously despite the utilization of a throw blanket strategy to win the war against dog fur....See MoreDesign my living room around this burgundy sofa
Comments (70)Love love love all these ideas! Thanks everdebz and 2pups4me!! My head is spinning but in a great way. I loved the Montana fabric but I think ur right still too red and when I went by there today after closing the window treatments that are up and YES I am keeping them, for now anyways and maybe for good, are you guessed it, red and cream. So I guess I really need to go with the other neutral colors... I’m loving golds, creams, sage greens.... I will be there tomorrow waiting on a fedex delivery of bed so I will take some pics and post later this week.... no internet yet. Wooo so much going on trying to move a little at a time, work an hour away and get decorated!! Thank you all for all the ideas, can’t wait to go forward and get this done! Stick with me, I’ve got a dining room, bedroom after this!...See MoreFlo Mangan
