White Cabinets With Floating Shelves

A client is updating a kitchen and deciding between white oak wood floating shelves or white? Has anyone done something similar and can share pictures? Thanks!

Really ? You give us no info so start there for sure . I do not love open shelving in kitchens so I need to see the space , where the shelving is planned and all the other elements that are chosen.

[Edit: I just realized this is an older post, but I'll leave my comment for reference for anyone who may come across this searching on the topic of floating shelving as I was when I found this.} @Madi Larsen, I think your inspiration photo is lovely, but I think what is canceling out your cost is that you're taking what is basically one box with side-opening doors, cutting that box in half, and adding shelving. I'm honestly surprised the quote for your design isn't higher than just for the cabinets alone. If you were replacing an entire box with shelving, then you might see a lower pricing. The most ingenious application I've seen of shelving is to use it in what would otherwise be a blind corner between two solid cabinets on either side of the corner. If you have an area like that anywhere in your design, you might consider using this concept there to save money and open up the space if you want open shelving somewhere.

I love the lighting for the area, you have an opportunity to choose either to draw in the eye to this wall or have it blend in. I would choose floating shelves to have it stand out, you can have fun deciding the shelf placement too. whatever you decide, best of luck (:

Keep the shelves neutral since your accents will most likely be colorful. Black or white would be my first 2 choices. If you know what you want on the shelves you can measure to tallest object and plan accordingly. For example if you have a tall picture frame, make sure to allow enough space between shelves. Plus the shelves are dressing the whole wall space above the cabinet. so add larger objects on the top to fill wall space like art.

Some fauxfessional. Doesn't know enough to create their own original design. Just wants to copy someone else rather than hire an actual designer. And cant even manage to find 1 image among the 100M on houss to steal. Sad for the clients who get shortchanged. They are probably better off not hiring a fauxpro either and just doing fsbo.
