Design Dilemma Home Decorating

placement for L-shape desk in home office ?

I’m getting an L shaped desk but don’t want it against a wall as I need a blank wall behind me. Initially i thought I would place it right against the corner by the right side window or maybe some inches away so it’s more centered to the right side wall. Because of the doors in the room, the only location is on the right side of the room. As you can see in the image provided, there are two doors on the left (closet and bathroom) then two windows in back wall with third door on the wall opposite the windows. The second image is a view from the office door showing doors and windows. Desk is not visible as it’s go the right side but please let me know your thoughts.

Should I scrape the idea of an L -shape desk or could this work?

I like to look out a window when seated at my desk if that helps and really we need pics of the space and measurements too.

Unfortunately, in order to have the blank wall to your back it causes you to have a weird position relative to the door into the room. There's a reason most offices are set up to have the desk facing the door - it's because it looks better and some people are uncomfortable not facing the door. I assume you want to have a blank wall behind you for Zoom calls. If this is the only position in the room that suits that requirement I guess you're stuck. If it were me I would put the desk where I want it and buy a screen for the Zoom background. As to whether you should have an "L" shaped desk, if that is the most functional configuration for you, then yes. The other option is to have a desk with a credenza behind it. If you're working in this space all day then function should come before form.

I've had the PB Bedford Desk for about 7 years. I purchased it because it was the only corner desk I could find that was appealing to me. I would not recommend it to anyone. It looks great but the quality is poor. The veneer is very thin and is mostly constructed with MDF. Just not worth the $$. I have been the only person using the desk since my DH has his own and it has had average use. I am getting ready to CL the top and the CPU cabinet. It's been replaced with an IKEA Melltrop dining table that I have seen used as a desk on Houzz.

I agree to run the length of the windows, because that's the only place you won't get a glare. Maybe a solution would be glass instead of wood. You might find something that's got a pewter finished trim to match the hardware on the cabinetry. Check Crate and Barrel. I have their desk and console with a black frame. Also the glass will appear lighter in the room.

You said you're open to ideas, so without having measurements, here's a possibility: The desk looks small in front of the window but if that's where your husband wants to be, you can float the 4 chairs in a circle in the center, keep the chandelier and bookcase where they are now and place a coffee table underneath the chandelier. Make sure it's on a dimmer switch. The desk cords are very visible on the floor, it might help make them less conspicuous by placing a grouping in front of the desk and anchoring it with a rug. If the drapes are partially covering the sides of the window, pull them back to open up the view and make a tidier drapery stack. This could a great office/library space. In the dining area, consider moving the buffet in front of the window so you can create more circulation around the table and pull it off the fireplace more. Of course, if you do that, you'll want to be sure it looks OK from outside too.

Yea I’m thinking of having the desk up by the wall u de right side window and having computer up by window or in the corn part of the desk. Def want more light near me.
