Ded - where was that photo taken? Several years ago, I was on a tour in Rome and the group went to an underground location where many bones were stored. I got creeped-out just by going into a cave-like area and the prospect of seeing all those bones was not a fun thought. I turned around and left. This activity was to replace seeing the Sistine Chapel which was closed to visitors on Sundays. Darn! lol!

Stacey, it was in the Chapel of Bones in Evora, Portugal. . it wasn’t a cave but it was definitely creepy. I’m sorry you missed the Sistine Chapel, which is quite something to see and very moving. Here’s another shot.

Stacey, maybe this one? The Capuchin Crypt is a small space comprising several tiny chapels located beneath the church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini on the Via Veneto near Piazza Barberini in Rome, Italy. It contains the skeletal remains of 3,700 bodies believed to be Capuchin friars buried by their order.[1] The Catholic order insists that the display is not meant to be macabre, but a silent reminder of the swift passage of life on Earth and our own mortality.[2]
