Help on Placement and Number of Cree Recessed Lights in Kitchen
Comments (2)I have the LR6 about 4 feet apart for about a total of 12 in my kitchen. My ceilings are 9'9". They are very bright. It's almost too much light, but a really very nice light ;). I haven't gotten the dimmer installed yet. My kitchen is an odd shape, we'll say 20' by an average of 12 feet. So, 9 might be too much for you. 9 probably would have been better for me. But, I'm no lighting designer ;)...See MoreNeed help on recessed lighting placement
Comments (2)Middle of the room does not matter much since the rows of light around the edge of the room ( ~ 24" - 32" from the wall) would provide enough lighting. The exact location of the lights will depend on whatever is above the ceiling - joists, hvac, plumbing, .. If the space above is insufficient for a regular can, a surface mount disc light such as the Glimpse (just as an example) could be another option....See MoreHelp! Comments (3)@Kimberly J, You're on the right track. While you've not given us a ceiling height nor details on materials/finishes (all affect lighting design) please consider the following: • Depending on actual pendant choices, your island could handle 3 smaller pendants & your peninsula could handle 1-2 pendants. These might all be complimentary to the pendant style you choose to hang over the table. • Lighting for sink wall & art wall could all be controlled together via dimmer. • Lights for island & for peninsula should be controlled separately, dimmers. Maybe locate the island's pendants dimmer on the island itself. • Before choosing actual recessed light size & final layout, think about the quantity & quality of the light it produces. The Lithonia Wafer LED comes 3", 4" or 6", and the Philips SlimSurface LED comes from 4" to 7". Each is available round or square, and in a few different color temperatures. I suggest using LEDs that are 2700k (a warmer white light like incandescent bulbs). I suggest the attached image for a possible layout. Less recessed lighting than the original. Please post pics when the project is completed....See MoreKitchen recessed lighting & island pendant lighting placement ideas
Comments (1)I don't have pendents or recessed lighting - so no help there, but if you don't have under cabinet lighting, add that to your list. My under cabinet lighting is the most helpful lighting I have. At a guess, I would say 2 pendants over the island, but your lighting store should also be able to help you. It depends on what you use and if your recessed lights light up the island - then pendants aren't necessary. Change out the track light over the sink for sure....See More- last year
