I need some groundcover suggestions please!
Comments (5)The fastest way would to plant it in wildflowers because the area is so large but it's not evergreen. Junipers would be the ideal but they would cost as much as a wall, but maybe you could find a wholesaler that would sell lining out stock. Whatever you decide there will be no easy solution, because seeds generally need water to germinate so you will have to weigh the alternatives time versus money. Comments (5)maybe some artesmia, the silver kind, to be reflective of the moonlight. I have some here in zone 8 that is flourishing in the heat and sun, smells good too and grows fast....See MoreI need some suggestions........
Comments (8)You may risk insulting a homeless person by trying to pass out unsolicited gifts. They are also very leary of strangers and your good intentions may be rebuffed. Better to donate to an organization. The homeless know where these places are and can partake if they wish. Just like anyone else whom you would be buying holiday gifts for, they may not want or need what is in the gift box. Believe it or not the homeless can be picky about what they recieve. Maybe they don't need lip balm or do not like trail mix or whole grain crackers? Shampoo is useless if one does not have a place to shower. Hand sanitizer?!? In my town they can't even get the homeless to use the needle exchange program to keep themselves healthy. Better to donate to a food pantry and let the homeless come in if they wish, and choose what they need from a charity. Maybe you could set sometime aside, to donate your time at a charity, to help with the extra things they do for those in need around the holidays. They always need extra volunteers around the holidays and throughout the winter. In past years I've volunteered for the Red Cross and also the Salvation Army. This year I signed up to work as a volunteer server at the Xmas dinner that the Salvation Army puts out for the homeless and underprivledged in Milwaukee. Find out what is done in your town. They may even need volunteers just to phone businesses asking for donations and you could do this from home if you don't drive or get out much....See MoreI need some plant suggestions
Comments (7)Good drawing. Ok, so I'm no light expert here, and I haven't physically seen your room, but I'm guessing that the sun comes in through your South window first, lingers for several hours, and then rolls around to the West window after which it then sets. So based on the pattern of the sun, and the distance of your furniture from the two windows, I'm wondering if you should focus your medium light requirement plants (medium light at most) on the dresser, and more of a low light plant for the bookshelf. If your bookshelf is higher than the window, then you've got a really low light situation there. You can use a light meter app on your smartphone to figure out where light is most intense in the room. This could be why your jades were suffering. You could put a plant on top of the AC as lmontestella suggested, just stick with a tougher one like a pothos, heartleaf philodendron, or sansevieria. As someone who always struggles with enough light, I tend to play it safe with low to medium light tropical plants. For the dresser, you could go with something like a parlour palm, another pothos, a smaller variety peace lily, or a Chinese Evergreen. Stick with less variegated varieties, as they need lots more light. Sorry for the length. Thank you for all the detailed drawing! : )...See Morerosecanadian
