Has anyone had MDI Implants done?
Comments (2)My husband just had all of his top teeth pulled and he now has an upper plate. He also gags all the time, especially every morning when he puts it in and it breaks my heart. He also gags everytime he gets through eating. He has a real bad underbite and I don't think he will be able to keep wearing this plate. They have already adjusted it about six times. We wanted to go with dental implants but they are so expensive and insurance doesn't cover them. The first doctor he saw after we found out he was losing all his top teeth gave us a quote of $12,000, so we switched doctors. The reconstructive doctor who made his plate said he could do it for around $6,000 to $8,000. My husband is retiring next year and we can take our IRA out next summer. If is is still gagging a year from now, he will go get the dental implants. I hope this is what you were talking about, as I have never heard of MDI? What does that stand for?...See MoreHas anyone had the crystal lens implants?
Comments (43)To follow up from January 2012. In January 2012, I was losing my sight in both eyes after having cataract surgery in 2010. The optometrist, Dr. Schell's attitude always included the words "at your age" it is the best you get. I was 47 at this point. It was another 13 months before I received a YAG, laser surgery to get rid of the scar tissue. Since the Crystal lens is back in your eye, the scar tissue is forced up against the lens and stops it from flexing. I was told this on the day of the Yag surgery, Feb 13, 2013. I no longer could tell when the eye chart was put on the wall, but could see down at the end of a hall. Felt very weird and frustrating that no one understood except the surgeon. I came out the surgery with more light than I could stand. It was amazing, but painful and hard to get through the day. That amount of vision did not last, but in 2016 my prescription remained the same. I definitely need glasses to drive, they annoy me to walk around the house though. Need reading glasses to read newsprint, but not the computer. Still have other problems. In the original surgery on my left eye, there was intense pain(think labour pain). I believe I had problems with the muscle relaxant, which I had noted in my file and spoke to the anesthesiologist about. He just rolled his eyes. He gave me too much for my system, the surgeon commented that my eye was spinning and then pain. I have complained continually that I am missing vision on my left side. I have also flew over the top of items, since they were below my line of vision. In my last appointment (7 years since surgery!), there was mention of a retina tear. There is two lumps in close proximity to the tear, The last optometrist mentioned the lumps might be cancer, the latest says maybe the start of AMD. Still believe it is better than being blind, but not a miracle cure. I do not feel the crystal lens flex like your natural lens. I have been in tense situations and when the other person crosses their arms, I think Great!, they are finally listening. After several different situations of arms being crossed, I know I am missing visual clues!:) Trying to learn patience... Sorry for the long post. Hope it is helpful....See Morehas anyone had an infected cyst in the parotid gland
Comments (10)Hi Morgan, Well I went to the ENT and he believed that this was a cyst in the parotid gland. He did mention surgery, but not now. The swelling had come down quite a bit in the 5 days I was on the Keflex, but hurt like you know what, if it was touched. So he wanted to drain the cyst and I said fine. A couple of injections of novacaine and a big syringe to pull out the fluid. Thing is there was no fluid coming out. All they got was a very small amount of pus that was sent off to the lab. He was very surprised. told me that if the pain got worse, the swelling got worse or I started to run a fever again to call right away. Went home and by the time I got home it was hurting like crazy again. The pain was worse where the needles went in for the novacaine and the drainage and it was hard as a rock again. Took more keflex and some tylenol and crawled back to bed. Next day seemed to be a bit better and continued on the antibiotic. By Wednesday night the pain was horrible and the swelling was getting worse. Didn't sleep all night and called the docs office the next morning and told them what was happening and could taste some drainage into my mouth again. They called me back in about 20 minutes and changed the antibiotic to Augmentum, which is worse on the stomach than the Keflex. told me to start it that evening and take it twice a day. Then find out the doc is away this week, but if it doesn't get better in a few days or gets worse or something to call and I can talk to the doc that is covering. Well the Augmentum is killing my stomach. I'm either nauseas most of the day or running to the bathroom and you have to take this med after eating a meal or it won't work. You need the food to help absorb the medicine. The good news is the swelling is almost gone in my neck and that part of me is feeling much better. The rest of me with the med is feeling horrible, but as long as I can finish the bottle, I'll be happy. Have 7 more days to go to finish as he gave me 14 days worth to take. I just hope that I can continue to finish the meds. I did have some swelling go into my cheek but that was from the swelling in my neck. I have not had any pain go into my ear though. The ENT did try to see if pressure on the swelling would cause drainage into my mouth. It didn't at the time I saw him but it did the next day. It was off and on. If I where you, I would get another opinion with another ENT doc. The one you are using doesn't seem to know what is going on. It sure wouldn't hurt to have another opinion since this has been going on for so long for you. As for surgery, I feel the same way and before I ever consented to surgery I would get at least one other opinion. Made that mistake a few years ago and had surgery on my arm and have suffered permenent disabilities since and should never have had the surgery. Long story but it was incorrect diagnosis. Would never make the same mistake twice. Let us......See MoreWho here has had carpal tunnel syndrome??
Comments (23)I had it terribly bad. I also changed to a vertical mouse, a different one, mine is the wow pen joy mouse. They put the hand in a more natural hand shake position that helps tremendously. I wore full braces on both hands but it was worse on the right, I wore them every night to sleep in. I had lost all feeling in the fingers and could not grasp at all. That's one reason why I started using my tablets so much instead of the computer. For anyone who has to use a mouse all day I highly recommend a vertical mouse. Google it there's several of them. The one I have is not expensive at all. My husband liked it so much I ordered him one for work and home. I have had vast improvement in my carpal tunnel symptoms. I am providing a link to a site that has several pictures of the mouse, I ordered all of mine from amazon for under $30,they come in lots of colors mine is pink. I have had mine for many years, I ordered my husband's in 2010, all are still working perfectly. Here is a link that might be useful: Mouse...See Moresal 60 Hanzlik
