Anyone allergic to Bare Escentuals make up?
Comments (11)I just purchased the Bare Minerals and have used it with the id prep cream. I do use Clarins Moisture Quenching Hydra-Care Cream on the dry areas on my face heavily, and lightly on the rest of my face under the prep. I haven't had any problems yet... That said, about 5 years ago, I picked up what I thought was the Neutrogena daily moisturizer that I had always used. I used it one day and the next morning woke up with a "sunburn". It was early fall so I figured I had spent a little more time in the sun than I realized the day before. I didn't use the product again until Christmas Eve that year. Well, I used it more heavily because it was winter and my skin was drier. On Christmas morning I awoke to a completely dark red sunburned looking face and had to wait several days for it to go away. I had all of the same symptoms you have posted. It was painful and I didn't even want to put anything on but aloe because I was afraid to trap the heat. i didn't even wear makeup on Christmas day to tone it down since it hurt so badly. Long story made a little shorter, I checked my bottle of Neutrogena thinking perhaps I bought one that had expired. No, they changed the product to include alpha hydroxy. Apparently, I am one of those people who absolutely cannot use anything with alpha hydroxy in it. I can't even use a zit stick. I have really fair and sensative skin. I like the BM since it is light and contains natural ingredients, and very natural looking. I even splurged and bought my daughter the beginner set. I am thinking that perhaps the mask you used (especially since it was on much longer than recommended) burned your face. I will contiunue to search the reaction to the Bare Minerals since I my interest has been peaked. I hope I didn't waste good money....See MoreAllergic Reaction
Comments (8)Yes the reaction hightens after every exposure and becomes more violent that´s why it´s important to take the dog to the vet quickly. Hystamine blockers don´t work well on dogs and are very short lived ( only good for 6-8 hours ), but cortisone does wonders, if you are having the problem and can´t locate the cause you can ask your vet to give your dog a shot of a long term deposit cortisone compound, those last up to 15 days, 15 days free of worries. Yes I´ve heard the horror stories about cortisone, in my experience, those horror stories are extremely rare, they can happen but it´s like penicilin, there are people and animals allergic to penicilin but that doesn´t mean that penicilin isn´t a good antibiotic for the remaining 99% of the population that are not allergic to penicilin. Same thing happens with cortisone, some animals may develop cortisone related health issues, that´s why it is important that the therapy is performed and under supervision by your vet. For what you are saying I think that what´s causing the problem is in that particular tree, you may not have fire ants ( Ohio is too cold for them ) but you have carpenter ants and those also sting, and they survive in cold climates protected by the bark and wood. Check that tree for carpenter ants. You have no idea how many cases I see every year, hot climates have hot bugs, the list is long and distinguished where I live: fire ants, bumble bees, those nasty 1 1/2 inch red wasps that carry more fire power than an Apache helicopter with an attitude, those black & yellow spotted wasps ( also very nasty ), black widow spiders, scorpions, wooly buggers ( butterfly caterpillars with "hair" ) and to round up the mix, rattlesnakes and poisonous toad. You gotta love the South !...See MoreMy Shampoo Soap Bar Experience
Comments (99)Chiming in again, since I guess that I started the whole shampoo bar thing here. Before I went on the Camino last year I trialed several bars. I rather liked the Grapefruit bar from Sweetsnthings, but I had also bought a bar made by Tree Hut at a local store. It was their 4 in 1 Mango bar. I really loooooved how it made my hair feel, and it smells yummy, so that's what I took on the Camino with me, and I liked everything about it. It's got more, for want of a better word, "chemically" ingredients, more like a traditional liquid shampoo, but worked better for me than the other bars, especially since I have hard water at home, and wasn't able to do an ACV rinse on the Camino. When I returned home from Spain I went to buy some more, but discovered that it had been discontinued! I managed to find 3 bars on clearance, which I am hoarding for my next Camino walk. (this summer, yay!) But now my search was on to find a replacement. I've been usingthis one from another Etsy vendor, LakeSuperiorSoap, and it leaves my hair soft and silky. The scent is nice, but pretty strong. I have also tried this one from GetLathered on Etsy. I like it too, but not quite as much. Neither shampoo leaves any kind of residue in my hair. After shampooing I use a quick swipe of this conditioner bar through my hair to make it easier to comb, but it hasn't been that hard to comb without it. The conditioner bar has lasted forever....See MoreWho has allergic reactions to laundry detergent...I DO!
Comments (41)A lot of people react to enzymes (and yes, most P&G detergents use enzymes) but I react more to the dyes and stench additives. Decades ago I would react to Tide and some others with the dyes and stench in them so I tried to buy dye/stench free whenever I could. Got some samples of the Tide when they changed the formula and concentrated it probably about 10 years ago and didn't react to it. My sister too, would react to Tide but she tried the "compacted" version and had no problem. Suggested it to my cousin with psoriasis and was very sensitive to detergents and that version was fine for him too. We all prefer the "free" versions and I still prefer the odorless types. I like the smell of Gain's apple/mango but don't really want to walk around smelling like a fruit salad. Don't want to smell anyway. When clothes stink, they need to be washed in my opinion. I don't really seem to react to any detergent I've tried in recent years but don't do a lot of experimenting anymore. And I started using an extra rinse and now with the new machine I can do the extra rinse automatically so it stays on. I also stay with a few proven detergent brands that clean my clothes well without all the extras I used to have to use when I used Arm & Hammer, All, Purex, Sun and other cheap brands. My clothes need enzymes to clean them apparently and rather than adding them I buy one of the few detergents that have a good mix of enzymes. Saves the cost of dishwashing detergent and borax. Jasdip, I'm with ya on the detergent aisles. And add in the stenchcandle areas of a store too. Do people just have no olfactory senses anymore? Most people use way more detergent than they should. If you look in the cap the first line is only about an inch in it. More is not better in detergents. Use what you should and what you need. Dirtier loads need more but it's just a waste to use too much....See MoreUser
