Lamb's Ear Flower's Flattened Out After Rain!!!
Comments (2)That is pretty typical of most Lamb's Ear. The one species I have not had problems with is 'Fuzzy Wuzzy'. I had to buy it just for the name's sake. My garden has seen some major downpours this Spring, none of which have caused the flowers to flop. At this point, go ahead and cut the flower stocks off. In the future you might consider staking them or you can forgo the flowers all together by planting 'Silver Carpet', a variety that does not flower. Comments (18)I like the look of mountains. In fall we usually spend a few days in the Smokies, crunching leaves underfoot while roaming around the park and the mountains. Now that, I find breathtaking. When renting a house, my main criteria is a spectacular mountain view with a house attached to it! A couple of years ago we visited Wa and I thought it must be the prettiest place on earth. But our travels were limited to the Olympic Peninsula. Again, we gravitated to the mountains, rainforests, and west coast beaches. Vera's terrain in eastern Wa is totally different. I guess the only common denomonater is lush, beautiful flowers. But in think Vera could grow beautiful flowers in concrete. Most vacations we spend on ocean beaches- Caribbean in winter, Gulf beaches in summer. Why do I live in Ohio??? Comments (2)It will be awhile. I have vegetable plants and flowers setting in my garage now waiting to plant. Local weather is saying we will have rain most of the week. If you already have the plants just keep them in a dry area and where they can get as much light as they can. The rain water will be great to water the plants when needed. If you plant in wet soil, the ground will harden around the plants and they may die. I will wait until a shovel in the ground brings drier soil....See MoreThursday Before and After Some Rain
Comments (10)Maryl - You wondered if Facemaker would be whiter in the heat. It's not. It's more yellow than cream with the heat and humidity. Those photos you saw that made the petal color look white were not reality. They were either the result of people using cameras that tend to "blue" everything up, or it was caused by light blowback. I didn't photograph it this morning because one petal wasn't fully open. Pinks and purples are still my top favorites. I've acquired more reds because I'm hybridizing with them. Having gotten good results from my red breeding, I wanted more reds to cross with my red seedlings. I do tend to like the reds more and more each year though. oranges too.. Debra...See Moremantis__oh
