So I just tweeked your current plan a little bit by doing pier style cabinets on either side of the bed. Then you don’t have to have a nightstand. Or you can just do full height wardrobes. You will have to account for the jogs in the wall so that the bed is positioned so that you can get the doors open. Then the desk would be opposite the bed and possibly add a little bookcase. I am showing a queen sized bed.

I wanted to pop back on for anyone who may have been following this thread that may be interested in any progress I’ve made. I didn’t mean to go so silent, things in our world just got a little hectic and this project got pushed down the list. No major changes, but a couple of updates. I did add some gallery frames at eye level in the entry hall. I really love them (mainly because of the photos I chose), and stop to stare at them often! I rehomed some of our throw pillows to the living room and added this blue velvet one from Pottery Barn. That actually reduced the number of “extra” pillows on the bed by three, which made my husband quite happy! The biggest thing is probably this bench I found, which we are really enjoying! My husband used to sit on the foot of the bed in the morning to put his socks on, typically while I’m still in bed. We have a SleepNumber, so it would throw off the distribution and disrupt my sleep. This way, the bench adds a pop to the room and is also functional. :) I haven’t addressed the mirror or “too high” wall hanging yet. I do have something sentimental coming that will hang above our bed. Would love to eventually change out our nightstands... but we’re in the process of growing our family and I don’t want to swap inexpensive for inexpensive, so I think I will wait on those so that I can really invest in them. I also haven’t decided if we will add a dresser or not. For now I’m kind of thinking no as we don’t need the storage, and if we eventually have a bassinet in our room it may begin to feel crowded. Will revisit that later! I don’t know that this is all that important to anyone, but everyone was so good to reply to my initial post, so I felt I owed an update!

Not a fan of wallpaper. Have you considered repainting the wall behind the headboard as an accent wall? Keep the other walls neutral. Would change the lamp shades to solid white ones without any ornaments on them. Would remove the art from the side wall and consider adding art over the headboard. If you don't want art over the headboard ... is the mirror above the dresser attached to the dresser? If not, after you finish any repainting you decide to do, you might put the wider rectangle mirror on the wall above the headboard and put the fancy framed mirror on the wall above the dresser. Otherwise, consider creating a stand for the fancy framed mirror. Something you might consider is "lifting" the mattress and box spring higher (thicker boards beneath the box spring) so the bedding is more visible over the foot board. Then lay two king size pillows in shams that match your bedding down before adding throw pillows. If you do this, however, you might need to use queen sized covers to fully cover the side of the side frame.

A couple other suggestions: So again, going off the art that you choose, it might be nice to place an accent chair in the corner where the chest is now. Something like this mauve chair could be nice and would be a nice color to use in the room. I also like these night stands if you wanted to do something different. Also, loving these accents chairs for adding something sumptous and possibly adding an accent color.
