Any ideas what caused this?
Comments (8)If this is herbicide damage, it doesn't have to have been caused by Round-up. A broadleaf weed killer (like Weed n Feed) will damage roses. This definitely looks like the symptoms of a plant trying to recover from some sort of herbicide. I've seen the same type of growth on honeysuckle and blackberry brambles that I've sprayed with Round-up. Don't use the vinegar again if it's near your roses. It may not have caused this damage, but it will definitely hurt more than the grass you want to kill. The best thing I've found to kill Bermuda is Grass B Gon by Ortho -- also sold in concentrate as Ornamec, if you have a bigger job than can be taken care of with a premix in a squirt bottle. It's a selective, grass-only herbicide, that's labeled for use around roses. It can take a week or more to work, and the grass has to be actively growing at the time, but it is safe to use around your roses. Now that the wind had died down here today, I'll be out spraying some in my own roses beds today. Connie...See MoreAny ideas of an ID for this once blooming climber?
Comments (23)tuderte, both your experience and mine seem to point to a way to control those house-eating plants: contain them... literally. They can handle it, evidently, even though they would certainly love more real estate if they can get it. I suspect that some roses do better when not pampered; I guess they like a challenge. I happen to have enough room (or at least I think I do) to plant out a vigorous climber, just to see what happens. If your brother has room, 'Silver Moon' may be just what he needs, but maybe he didn't realize it? And if you're worried 'SM' will outgrow its welcome there, perhaps try it in a large pot first? Good luck, Virginia...See MoreAny idea about ID ?
Comments (5)Josephines... yes, margins are quite noticable in mid summer. If it gets sun it will be more yellow. I have had it two years, a friend gave it to me, no name or any idea. I quess it is sport from old or other way rare because it is not from central Europe or USA, rather from eastern Europe. We have had very wet season and hails too. Today it is like this. And in a pot in a sunny place......See MoreWhat type of Cactus is this? Please help me ID this!
Comments (8)I am def taking it off her hands!!! I do not doubt that shes not giving it the proper care it needs! Well I know she isn't because she knows nothing about it! Can't wait to see how much more it flourished after I give it the proper TIC! This was also her ex-boyfriends so that might be why she hates it! But she couldnt bare to throw it away since it was alive!...See Morethefof Zone 8/9 UK
