Barely damp mop with a touch of Dawn in the water

Dry mop daily. Wet/damp mop once or twice a month.

I use bona. I'd just spray the bona on a mop and do a quick once over

or, just spritz to make it damp and do that.

I wouldn't use swiffer or the Murphys stuff. leaves a film.

Try mop n glo. Anyway you have a lot of floor.

Dry swiffer is fine, I wouldn't use a wet swiffer on HWs... Last house we had similar floors and we used the dry swiffer with no issues, vodka in a spray bottle with a microfiber cloth in the kitchen

Even better than using a dry Swiffer is to buy a pack of microfiber cleaning cloths. They fit perfectly on the swiffer head and they can be washed and reused. And they work great.

I ordered reusable and washable fleece mop pads for my dry Swiffer from Etsy. I dry mop once or twice a week and mop on Sundays. I have light LVP floors which doesn't show as much dirt and dust as dark floors.

Rugs............appropriately scaled to room size and furnishings. : ) Use the PET swiffers dry.......they pick up a lot more dust. But large expanses of dark hardwood are what they are. Continual nightmare showing every speck of dust. The End. Get a Roomba.......: )

Have them refinished to a medium to light color. Dust mopping 2x a day is for the birds. You have to accept that they will look unclean and dusty after about 15 minutes if you keep them.

NO to the wet Swiffer It will build up on your floor and leave it streaky. You'll see every foot print. Just a damp mop of water with a touch of vinegar should pick up all the dust and dirt.

My former supervisor had similar floors installed in his new build. He spent $$$ and hated them from Day One. They always went barefoot to keep the dirt down, but you could see every bare foot print.

Between vacuumings, i use a wool dust mop daily. Quick and easy. I use a continous motion, rotating the mop at turns pushing crmbs to a corner then collect with a brush and dust pan.

Just use the dry swiffer never the wet one . Adding some area rugs would help too.

We have dark hardwoods and a white Lab! I love the dog and the floors but it definitely requires cleaning. We have rugs in all rooms, but I also use the Bona duster mop every day. The Bona floor cleaner left a film on the wood that showed every single footprint. When I mop, I used vinegar and water.

@tdemonti how many times can I use the wool head before washing? How long does it take to dry? I'm using washable fleece pads with my Swiffer, which I like, but sometimes I have to use two pads (I bought 7 so I'm good) to finish the house each time.

Jen, I wash it by hand 2-3 times a year - with Woolite- two adults, no pets. I use it daily in the kitchen and 2-3 times/week on about 500 sqft of hardwood.

I should buy a second wool head. It can take 2 daysto dry hanging in sunshine.

It's quiet, generates no trash or ongoing expense, fits under and behind furniture, and into a corner of a closet easily. I even use it to dust down the ceiling and walls.

Ill throw my suggestions out there. I wouldnt use anything that builds up on the floor, which eliminates everything. A lot of products build up and cause a haze that isnt easily removed. Hardwood and water never mix, if you have to mop, use a microfiber pad on a swifter like mop, wrung out until its just damp, if it doesnt dry very quickly, its too wet. Some people use steam mops but you risk damaging (cupping) the floor. I used to run my roomba every other day to keep the dust off the floor and microfiber the floor weekly. Keeping dust and dirt off the floor is key. Dark floors are beautiful and rich but the maintenance stinks.
