HELP! Leaves Drooping (Madagascar Dragon Tree) Dracaena marginata
Comments (10)You should be able to put it relatively close to the east window, if not directly in front of it. It is a pretty adaptable plant and I've found that as long as it's close to a window it should be ok. The light through the glass is just fine. No sense in wasting electricity by having the A/C running while a window's open! This plant will indeed recover. It will take some time, and what is brown now won't be green again. But it will eventually be ok given enough light. As Toni said, fertilize it once a month, especially if you plant to give it strong light. And do keep an eye out especially for spider mites in that dry heat! Though they can also get nasty mealy infestations. I personally disagree with the misting suggestion since theres no benefit to be had. It will cool the plant for only a few minutes in that high heat, and the water that does evaporate will not stay by the plant to humidify it. If you plan to spray it once every 10 minutes, THEN you might see a benefit, otherwise its a wasted time. However, it won't hurt anything to spray once or twice a day, so if it makes you feel better, spray away!...See Moredracaena madagascar dragon tree
Comments (0)Hi, I currently own a madagascar dragon tree and it seems it has started a new plant? I'm not sure if it is a flower or a madagascar dragon tree because my plant is always around my flowers. I'm thinking that one of the seeds from the flowers some how got in the pot. I will post a picture of the baby plant when I can, I would appreciate it if someone would reply after I post the picture thanks. : )...See Moredragon tree help and also a big Dracaena
Comments (10)hello thanks for commenting:) im having a bit of trouble knowing good wood to bad, when i cut the wood is like light greenish paleish and its wet pretty much like the cutting on this pic http://plantgasm.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/cuttings.jpg is that good wood? I like to try to do the same thing in that pic in the water to reroot. And for the dracena so i can do this right cause i never cut one of these before and don't want to kill it. It has a really fat trunk i say about 3 feet up than it has the stick part that goes way up to the top, Do i cut the stick off of the trunk completely or leave some stick on it? Or did you mean to cut right into the trunk? And for the dracena do i plant the cuttings in dirt or water and if dirt do i water the dirt or moist it first? Here's some pics of what i cut of the soft part of the dragon tree does the wood look healthy? i took one with flash and no flash. Than i also took pics of my dracena trunk. don't mind the mess in that pic lol Also as you can see in the dragon tree pics the dirt is very dry im still not sure when i should water that and the good plant in the first pic cause they was in the wet dirt before and im not sure if it has enough water in the trunk or not.. im sure the roots are pretty dry.. I hate asking all these questions i just don't want to loose any of these plants.. i lost one about 3 years ago i was not sure if it was dieing of no water or too much water it was hard to tell by the dirt....See MoreHelp with my Dracaena Marginata Plant/Tree?
Comments (3)Where are you located? That info is significant. I would agree about the likelihood of sunburn. If it had been grown in shade, then it needs to be hardened off to stronger sun gradually. (Think of what would happen to a caucasian person who, after being indoors all winter, was suddenly transported to the Arizona desert for an outdoor hike with no sunscreen.) Does that pot sit flush to the ground? If so, for better drainage (I know you said the white pot has drainage holes) it might help for the pot to be sitting on little "feet" so there is a tiny bit of clearance between the holes on the bottom and the ground. As far as the media goes .... what exactly did you use? Straight potting soil? MiracleGro mix?.........See MoreTiffany, purpleinopp Z8b Opp, AL
