please help me choose grout for this tile...
Comments (36)Pipdog-- I worked with a company for several years doing Lord and Taylor stores on the east coast-- literally hundreds of thousands of square feet of marble-- crema marfil marble with absolute black granite borders. It was ALL grouted with sanded grout. I'll take it a step further. It was done using an old method of grouting, where dry grout is rubbed on the joints, and in this case, with a buffing machine, and nothing scratched. Additionally, crema marfil is notoriously soft, even as marble goes. No problem. Someone really has to TRY to scratch marble. Not saying it can't be done. But you'd have to really try. Also, as for touching up "down the road"-- you can do that within the first 72 hours. After that, the joints must be atleast 2/3 empty, or you take a chance on the new grout flaking off, because it won't bond to the old grout....See MoreNew pebble tec finish looks mottled, is it normal?
Comments (23)Yes, my stairs (the entire pool, in fact) is all pebble with no cement showing. Try the acid thing again yourself. Just lean over from the edge, hold the opening of the bottle as close to the water as possible if not actually in water, and pour it out slowly and gently over the length of the steps. Depending on the severity you might want to brush and repeat with another gallon. Here's a couple before/after acid wash photos that I dug up of my pool. The steps were really bad and hadn't fully cleared up after a couple days of the no-drain acid wash. So I poured another gallon directly over them and it finished clearing them up. Actually I think I may have done that twice. Pool floor:...See MoreCost of Pebble Sheen vs Pebble Tec?
Comments (43)We are having our pool re-plastered and upgrading from the previous plaster to pebblesheen. We initially were looking at pebbletec and when we opted for sheen instead it was the same cost, no upgrade. I'm thinking you might want to check with a different company. There should not be an upsale cost between tec and sheen unless you are including additives that were not present in the tec....See MoreTec grout...gray for white and black bathroom...which gray??
Comments (8)Thank you guys. I really appreciate your help. My brain is fried and this decision has to be made immediately. gthigpen....I freaked out when I realized that the white was going to be a mistake. I cancelled it just in time but they are waiting on me to call in the color so it can be ordered. Sad for you that you didn't catch it...I hate regrets. My dd did the same thing with penny tile and white grout. A sea of white. Ugh. It's still pretty but she hates it. Gthigpen and Jackie...I see that you are using several colors of grout. I don't have that in me and I don't have a designer to advise me. I wish I did. Do you think it will be ok to choose one grout color i.e.; Silverado...and use it on all of the tile in three different bathrooms for simplicity's sake??? I have subway in two showers and in one tub surround. And the black and white on three floors and two shower floors. Here are some pics. Please advise and thank you so much for any wise words....See Moreolychick
