USF Fall plant festival
Comments (21)We went yesterday, it was our first time there, we had a great time and will definately go again. I didn't take my red wagon but my DH only had to make 2 trips to the car (we parked really close) so clearly I did restrain myself. We've been to 3 plant sales this month and will go to another one next weekend - what a great month! I was astonished to see shampoo/pine cone gingers 'marked down' to $15 for a 4" pot! They spread like dust bunnies, I only keep mine from taking over the yard because they go dormant every winter and I neglect them shamefully, I can't give them away! Comments (66)Forgot to say earlier I was swooning so over Annies outhouse, lol.... 6 sinks. 4 toilets. The double basin kitchen sink, kitchen/garden powder room, and my loves office bathroom sinks are most often used. That can go down to just the kitchen sink- it's happened during power outages to set up the 5 gal water bottle over it for everything for a couple days. For me it would be really, really weird to have run out of all soap of bar, liquid, foaming, dish, body, shampoo, laundry liquid... to the extent that I have to restock all hand washing ability at all sinks at the same time....See MoreRepeat Floof! Comments (74)joyful, I remember when televisions were called "television sets" because they actually did have a set of tubes in them. Then, it was shortened to "sets". Those old TVs lasted for decades! And, they were repairable. Now the technology has changed and my TV is almost out dated despite it being only a very few years old. Refrigerators were much the same, as you said. Vacuums were repaired. For some unknown reason vacuums and sewing machines came into the same repair shops. Even Sears used to sell the vacuums and sewing machines in the same department. I used to sell them. I never saw any relationship between the two except for the fact that both of these things were largely used by women. Think that has anything to do with it? I have stepped aside from much of that consuming and have simply opted out from owning things that I can do without. That includes a toaster, microwave and automatic coffee maker. I just got tired of replacing and throwing away all the time. To put in a microwave in my kitchen would have required too much remaking of the kitchen space since it was built when microwaves were still sitting on little carts in the kitchen. I just said "no". I don't miss it one little bit, at all. My first microwave lasted for over 12 years. It was an Amana and I think that I am correct in remembering that it was made in the US. I think it was called a "radar range". Things began to change right about that time....early 80s....See MoreFloof! Funny quirks..SO edition!
Comments (37)Annie, my SO is like that too. And he says the EXACT same thing: "I think this is done, but I am gonna leave it for a few more minutes." Luckily, the only cooking he does is grilling. And that is not often. He does it with other things too. Washing the car? He has to mix 4 different soaps in the bucket. Spraying some ants? He will use half a can of raid on 10 ants. He RUINED a batch of my scented wax cubes by waltzing in, telling me HE knew how to make them better, and dumping a ton of fragrance oil in the wax, way more than it will hold, thus ruining them. And even if they somehow managed to turn out out, I would have to sell them for 10 bucks a pack to break even on the cost! He has since learned to stay away from my cubes and candles! (unless of course, he sells them for me. He does sell quite a lot. But as far as production goes ,hands off!) However, that quirk carries over into positive things too. He is a very generous man, and good to me in all things. But man I get tired of eating dried out grilled chicken!...See Morenickel_kg
