I'm determined to go this time. I thought it'd be Saturday but we're probably going to be giving a rescue border collie a ride to the BC rescue in Deland so will have to go Sunday. I'm in Bradenton and we've always had something else we had to do on their sale weekends but I'm going this time for sure!

I'm going to the Manatee master gardeners sale tomorrow and that's always good because you never know what treasure you'll find.

I'll be there buying my new supply of heliconias. I have a list of plants from JG tropicals on what they are bring if anyone is interested in heliconias

I can't wait to go, I went to the July one and came home with a Stephanotis, Arabian Jasmine, Plumeria & Rangoon Creeper...all are doing wonderful. I keep kicking myself for not purchasing that Michela Alba for $70 last time, fingers crossed there's another one there this time round. also a biggie on my list this year is the Portlandia Grandiflora! I'm currently transforming my front yard with tropical plants and need heliconia's this time round aswell. Hopefully I can control myself!

I am going, I can bring a 3 ft cutting of Plumeria pudica Bridal Bouquet, a cutting of Princess Victoria plumeria, some Heliconia Chocolate Dancer, some Begonia incisa, some Epipremnum Ginny, a small Clerodendron Musical Notes and Calathea crotalifera Yellow Rattleshaker if anyone wants a quick trade in the parking lot. I'm getting excited about tomorrow... Most of all 'cause I just got paid ;) and now I can actually afford to buy some things. I'm looking to fill in a few structural spaces in the yard (large shrubs/small trees) and of course extend my collection of herbs. I have a general idea of species that I'm looking for, but of course the selection will dictate what direction I go.

I'll be there first thing with my boy in tow. I'll be the tall guy in straw hat. He'll be the short guy riding in the red wagon. hahaha :) I'll see you all there! Happy Festival!!!

We went yesterday, it was our first time there, we had a great time and will definately go again. I didn't take my red wagon but my DH only had to make 2 trips to the car (we parked really close) so clearly I did restrain myself. We've been to 3 plant sales this month and will go to another one next weekend - what a great month!

I was astonished to see shampoo/pine cone gingers 'marked down' to $15 for a 4" pot! They spread like dust bunnies, I only keep mine from taking over the yard because they go dormant every winter and I neglect them shamefully, I can't give them away!

Pretty decent show. I finally found my long-sought-after Brunfelsia and put it in the ground yesterday. I was a bit disappointed in the selection of herbs, though. A couple of the specialty herb vendors I've seen there before were noticeably absent this time.
But man, it was a beautiful morning and a really good vibe. We had fun! hooray USF :)

I went. I didn't buy much at all. I was dissapointed in most of the orchid vendors. They had too much hybrid floof. The Orchid Society wasn't too bad but, boy oh boy, the prices were astronomical.

I bought:

Stevia
Red African Voilet
Stanhopea wardii
A 4" plant for $8 from a vendor close to (but across from the Native Plant vendor

I forget what it's called though. The plant itself resembles a deeper green Firespike. The flower bracts were orange-red with a orange-yellow flower.

I miss Del Favaro and Hill's Raingreen. Neither were there this time.

I went and spent well over my budget of 200 dollars, oh well I have till next spring for more. I got more heliconias and got a deal on some bromeliads a old friend says he will give me this week. I guess more stuff to give away on saturday. I got Stricta Burning Desire, Platystachys Sexy Orange, Orthotricha Oriole Orange, Lingulata Red Tip Fan, Champneiana Splash, Caribaea Bonnie kline, Bihai Halloween, and one Etlingern Elatior Red torch ginger

The ginger/heliconia seller that was there had prices that were patently astronomical. I considered buying something from him for, well, about 2 seconds before I walked away.

At the summer sale in June he had tiny 4 or 6 inch containers with a few 10-12" stems of Heliconia hirsuta for $25. I walked one booth down and purchased a 5 gallon container, full to bursting with mature 4 ft stems and in bloom, for $16.

I only brought a few things-

peach tree
a type of jacobina (sp)?
and I can't remember what else

there were a few other things that I considered buying but I thought they were way over priced.
It is so funny that you can get some great deals, or even a fair deal and then some things are priced ridiculous.

Olya- I left a bag at the member/volunteer sign in table. Did you get it?

He is high, but it's only money! I'll get paid next month and be able to save enough till 08 spring sale.
