Please critique my pendant placement over island
Comments (15)I think about this occasionally - for whom am I designing, and at what focal distance? I am over the top in love with my backsplash from close-up but struggle to make it look 'perfect' from a distance. The pendants in your first picture from 9 hours ago are way too close together IMO, regardless of whether they block the hood. Attention grabbers, ok if the focus should be on them, and/or if you want to distract from something else. Pictures two and three blend in much more - is three from LBL? Now that I review your original post, I think placement, plus or minus a few inches, will be fine. PM me if I can help with any photoshopping. I was going to show some LBL pendants but really like the idea of globe pendants in your space, as you show....See MoreSuggestions for pendant over sink please!
Comments (18)Sueb- I am drooling over the Hubbardton Forge! Unfortunately, I think they are too much of a statement to pair with my pendants. April- I love some of the ones you posted, but again I think I need something simpler. I thought about eliminating the light altogether, but DH wants me to get something for over the sink. He literally never notices if I buy something new or rearrange a room, but for some reason he really likes light fixtures. Lol barncatz- the decision to make the cabinet sides glass was a spur of the moment idea I got while talking to my cabinet guy. It was the one decision I didn't think about at all, I just blurted it out and that was that! Pipdog- I love the photos you posted and think that is the direction I will go in. Something small and simple with a gold finish to tie in with the gold inside the pendants and to break up the stainless and chrome. Thank you. I will now probably spend the next 2 hours looking at small, round gold pendants. Lol...See MoreLinear Lighting Sizing for Over-Sized Kitchen Island Suggestions
Comments (18)You need pendants with chain. and EXTRA chain and wire. Or the fixture must come with a pivot and the ability for additional stem or customization on the light order.. . It would help to know the highest ceiling elevation. A 126 inch island is not HUGE. You need nothing close to an 82 inch single fixture. It will take OVER : ) Three pendants, forcing light down onto the counter would be just fine. No wider than 15 inches if three and no more than 18 to 20 if two. . You can augment with recessed as well....See Moreoversized chandelier over round table
Comments (21)I'm sure someone already mentioned size: Rule of thumb: chandelier should be ½ to ¾ the width of your table. So for a 60" round table, your chandelier is fine - minimum would be 30" in width to 45" width centered over the table....See MoreFlo Mangan
